Hmmmm, that doll is missing something. I know! A hat! But she can't just wear the same one all the time... she needs options. Yes, yes, I'm getting an idea...

My examples are all white because they are models, but feel free to use whatever colors you want or look at the recommendations!

Step 1: The Sun Hat

Hmmm, a sun hat! All you need is:

  • Paper (sunhattish looking)
  • Tape
  • Something to draw a circle with (that will be big enough to have a large brim)
  • Scissors
  • Ribbon?

So just trace a circle on the paper, cut it out, then cut out a circle inside of it so it fits nicely on your doll's head. Then cut out a sun shaped thingie (look at the picture, it's hard to explain), cut a line to the middle, and make a cone, then smush to look like a dome, use the tabs to glue to rim, and add ribbon if you want. Yes, sun hat!!!

Step 2: The Witch Hat

OK, OK, she need to dress up...

  • Paper (black or purple)
  • Tape
  • Circle for tracing (smaller brim than sun hat)
  • Scissors
  • Ribbon?

Trace the circle, cut it out, cut out a hole so it fits on doll's head... you know the drill. OK, now make the cone from the sun shape thing, but leave it as a cone. Use the glue taps to attach to rim, and... YES, WITCH HAT!!!

Step 3: The Party Hat

It's party time!

  • Paper (colorful and patterned)
  • Tape
  • Scissors
  • Elastic cord
  • Hole Puncher
  • Decorations (buttons, pompoms, sequins, etc.)

Make a cone out of a circle by cutting to the middle and folding (it's like the sun shape, except without the glue tabs). Hole punch it and add elastic cord so it fits on the doll's head. Decorate!

Step 4: The Dunce Cap

Wow. Just wow.

  • Paper (grey, black, white)
  • Tape
  • Elastic cord
  • Pencil
  • Hole Puncher

Make a cone out of the circle, hole punch on either side, add the elastic cord, write dunce on the cone, and voila! You now have an officially certified dunce!

Step 5: The Sailor Hat

Yup, it's quite a nice day to pitch the net!

  • Paper (winterish)
  • Tape

Do the sun hat smush with a cone made out of a normal circle so that you get a dome that fits on your doll's head. Yay, now Dollie can have a sea adventure...
