Ziplock CO2 Grenade

Introduction: Ziplock CO2 Grenade

This is a design for a simple yet effective grenade. It uses vinegar and baking soda to make Co2 which pops the bag.

This is my first Instructable so I hope its alright.

Step 1: Materials Needed

you need, and seal wrap or similar(must be the sticky on one side stuff)
2.Snack size ziplock bag(you may use larger if you wish)
4.baking soda
5.Duct tape for sealing top of bag(optional)

Step 2: Baking Soda

Add some baking soda. You will need to experiment to find the right amount to add

Step 3: Press and Seal Wrap Bag

To keep the vinegar separate from the baking soda, you need to make a small bag out of the press and seal. To do this you need to fold a piece of wrap in half with the sticky side on the inside. Then seal the edge of the wrap to make a pocket that is open on top.

Step 4: Add the Vinegar

Pour the vinegar in to the press and seal bag and seal the top.

Step 5: Assemble the Grenade

Place the vinegar bag into the baking soda bag and close it.

Step 6: Detonate the Grenade

To detonate just squeze the grenade and then chuck it.

Step 7: Video

The video doesn't give it any justice. Usually there is a better delay and the pop sounds louder than it is in the video, but it gives you an idea.

haha yeah its kinda pointless unlss u like make it with a garbage bag instead of a ziploc.... wait a minute

heh, if you also put black pepper or lime juice or toothpaste or anything else that hurts ones eyes, you can wage chemical warfare!!!!! i am not liable for any injury to any object or person resulting from this comment

    How about some chilli powder?

Chemical warfare? you say household angry backyard science warfare

     pretty much a water ballon

...that asplodes 10 seconds after its pressed, and is really noticeabel. POUR SOME PAINT IN IT

nice concept... Except that you should realy either hot glue or duct tape the bag close, hot glue works the best, and use a bigger bag , a lot more vinager [a cup of vinigar works best ,and alot of bakeing soda [use a cup to a cup and a half. good instructable though.

wow, that... didn't... work. I thought it was a saweet idea though, betta luck next time man

I used to make these...Instead of press-seal wrap, I would put about 1/8-1/4 cup of vinegar in the bag, then fold up about a tablespoon of baking soda in a paper-towel burrito. The vinegar soaking through the paper towel gave it a few seconds' delay.

i did this in the winter with snow on the ground and food coloring in the viniger.then i threw it in the air right before it exploded and it made my back yard pretty colors.

Ye they rule I bought about 20 on holiday and about 5 went off in the suitcase!

I like the fact you have to pop it instead of the other way where you have to pull the inside bag open and turn it upside down.

thanks 0.775, at least somebody liked it... I know it's kinda stupid but you can do alot of stuff with the same concept. I am working right now on adding stuff to it to make it smell terible when it pops.I made it mostly to show a good way to keep the stuff separate untill you set it off.

This is actually very clever, and if you wanted a louder pop, you coudl just add more vinegar and baking soda, then duct tape the whole bag. innovative use of press 'n seal. oh, and leave the bb's out, it's just a waste of space.

use more materials in three bags with bb's
