I was showing my friends the zippo trick called the twilight zone posted by Fungus Amungus, but they didnt look so impressed as I hoped. I searched the internet finally finding this one. BUT the instructions blowed. I wanted this to be as easy as possible. Here is what I got. Enjoy.

Step 1: How to and Tips

The video is the how to, and the pictures tell how it should be. I am sorry about the video, it is blurry.

PRACTICE IT BEFORE YOU COMMENT, you'll eventually get it.

HOW TO DO IT
Put your middle finger and your pointer finger on the top, and your thumb on the bottom. Have the hinge on your left. Now in one quick motion squeeze with your fingers, top two fingers slide down, and your thumb slides up. The zippo magically opens.

TIPS
At the top of the lighter, keeping your two fingers near the edge of it makes it somewhat easier.

nice trick. but I strongly recommend you to quit smoking.

I'm sure you've got bad habits too. We all have. That is not an appropriate comment. Besides which, if this person is an artist or an outdoorsman, they probably ALSO are prone to carrying a lighter. Don't make assumptions, remember what they say about when you assume.

I disagree that doesnt look that cool. Could do it in my sleep.

That is a very smooth trick. Now I have something to occupy my ADD hands while sitting at the office.

I have the same Zippo. Mine's been through quite a bit though, so in some small spots the black has chipped off. Nice choice though :) Mine is E 08, what's yours?

man i think that was the first trick i learned twelve years ago and im 28 where were you
bloke2022 says: Dec 20, 2009. 7:54 PM
I learned this and I am 13.
thisisandrew says: Aug 18, 2009. 8:33 PM
anything you shouldn't have added on the tutorial is "it opens by magic" when I finally got it I felt as if it was like that too but it doesn't help much to learn by that, your trying to give the whole lighter momentum and then stop only the bottom leaving the top to fly open, so one tip I have is to make sure you pointer and middle fingers end up on the lower half that does not move

thanks so much, ive been looking for a good tuturial on how to do "the squeeze" and now i can do it. The trick i needed to know was to put my thumb so that it stuck out because the zippo would just fly out of my hands. Thanks very much
Janig88 says: Sep 5, 2008. 12:32 AM
This is nice trick probably the easiest i know but still fun to show friends who doesnt know how to do it. btw it doesnt really matter which side hinge is
husnain says: Aug 31, 2008. 11:30 AM
now i will try
jericho100 says: Aug 30, 2008. 12:45 AM
Nice trick, but be aware that doing this to your Zippo repeatedly can (and probably will) dismount the lid. Considering that Zippos have a lifetime warranty it's not really that big of an issue but if you have a favorite lighter it's a little heartbreaking to see the lid go flying off somewhere after doing this one too many times.

Thornburg (author) says: Aug 3, 2008. 7:39 PM

If you want to learn more, then buy this if you can afford it. It's well worth the price. It's awesome!!!
