excelent work! how did you the rounded rim in the pieces? have you tried this in foam with thickness of 7, 8 mm? such simple, straighforward job and very effective, i suppose you were as happy as your daughter!

Combining the candy bag onto the back of the shield is brilliant!

Nice armor! What material did you use for the metal bits?
ricardoruizo (author) in reply to D00M99Nov 3, 2010. 6:07 PM
The armor is leather.

leaves skirt Fabic EVA (Ethylene Vinyl Acetate) (foamy) is thermoformed in a domestic oven

there is no metal

So you spray painted it?
ricardoruizo (author) in reply to D00M99Nov 3, 2010. 9:45 PM
everything was painted with aluminum spray

Nice. Leather is really nice and flexible too so it eliminates the issue that some of the more detailed costumes have of breaking, bending, or difficulty in movement.
Great work!

I'm so glad you posted this right AFTER Halloween. That gives me most of a year to get one made.
ricardoruizo (author) in reply to CymruNov 3, 2010. 8:11 PM
I just spent two weeks working at night
With a year of work, you must be great
Cymru in reply to ricardoruizoNov 4, 2010. 6:42 AM
I'm betting that I'll be making 3 or 4 of them in the year. And sized for someone who is 5'11" and 5'6" and 5' and 4'8". They already have boffers
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foam_weapon) so foam armor seems a logical progression.
ricardoruizo (author) in reply to CymruNov 4, 2010. 6:59 AM
It is logical that if you already have a foam gun, now require foam armor.
Initially I thought of making the whole armor of foam, but as I had leather in my workshop, I decided to use

Not guns. 4' long PVC swords covered in pipe foam insulation another 4" beyond the PVC.
