In honor of pi day, I made this nutella, banana, and vanilla custard pie for the instructables office!

Crust:

2 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs (~1.5 sleeves)
1/3 cup sugar
1/4 cup mashed banana (1/2 banana)
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, melted

-blend graham crackers, sugar, butter, and banana in food processor
-spread crust in a pie pan and let sit in the freezer for about 30min (preheat oven to 350)
-bake crust in oven for ~15 min until it begins to brown and let cool
-spread about 1/2 a jar of nutella on the bottom and sides of the crust and set in refrigerator until custard is ready

Custard
3 cups whole milk
8 large egg yolks
2/3 cup sugar
1/3 cup cornstarch
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
1 vanilla bean or 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Combine all ingredients (except milk and vanilla) in a bowl, and whisk
Heat milk and vanilla on medium heat until hot but not boiling
Add 1 cup of hot milk to egg yolk mixture and whisk
Add egg mixture back to the hot milk and bring the mixture just up to a bubble- it will thicken to a pudding consistency
Remove from heat and let cool

When cool, alternate the custard with layers of sliced bananas.
Chill and serve

Hey, thanks for the 'ible, this is really tasty. I added an extra layer of peanut butter on the crust and then smeared on more nutella between the layers of the custard. Not sure about nutella, but peanut butter is awesome in this.

Had some failures here and there due to my inability to follow instructions and general rebeliousness, but that's a common occurrence for me. :D

i am so gonna try this one
This sounds fantastic! Another one where I really wish I weren't allergic to bananas :-( Thank you for sharing, and good luck on the contest!
Looks yummy! I love nutella!
Ah ha! So that's what the crust was for. Looks awesome. :D
