Introduction: Blowgun

This is the most simple toy to have hours of fun with!

Step 1: Materials

-PVC tube: diameter of 1 cm (0.39 inch); Length can range from 20 to say 100 cm (7.9 to 40 inch). Longer barrels are more accurate, but harder to carry around in combat and require a longer breathe to operate.
-magazine page
-adhesive tape
-a pair of scissors

Step 2: Barrel

Saw a piece to length that suits you and make the cut edge nice and smooth with sandpaper

Step 3: Projectile

-Cut the magazine page into a long strip with a width of 5 to 8 cm (2 to 3.1 inch)

-Turn the strip of paper into a cone:

-Put adhesive tape on the apex to keep the paper together

-Slide the cone into the barrel and trim its end

Step 4: Blow

Lets roll!

Put the cone into the tube, aim and blow.
Wear safety goggles when playing with your friends.

Have fun!

Why do not use normal copy paper?

You can use copy paper. I shouldn't have said "NOT normal copy paper" (I published this instructable a long time ago)

    Advantages using magazine paper:
    -Cones are easier to make
    -Cones are stronger
-Cones remain usable when they're moist (from breath)

    Have fun!

Ah. I see. Thank you for your reply.

Check out my blowgun 'ible for a great way to make some accurate darts

Hey i just wanted to know your input to the question that Higgs Boson, myself, and another one of our friends are all asking. What can be done to make the blowguns better at this point? Yours and ours are practically identical, except for the darts. Even with the best darts we can make, they still only ever shoot accurately at a max 35 feet. What do you think?

if you make yours out of metal(copper or aluminum) about 4-5ft depending on your breathe add a mouth peice out of plastic and duct tape or glue on a small funnel (i use a small latex kitchen funnel with the spout cut off and hot glued to the end) and look at some nail, wire, disposable craftknife darts you can even go hunting with them with an average range of 50 to 100 feet :) i am waiting till summer to remake mine and am gonna ask a local farmer if im allowed to hunt on his land after ive got pinpoint accuracy

    I don't like using a mouthpiece. I tried a couple.

We made several 4 foot long pvc pipe blow dart guns.... Very, VERY accurate.... We made the darts out of electrical nut covers(the yellow ones) and hand ground metal darts..... Very cool indeed....

Put a nail in the end and push it down with a long screwdriver, then drop in some resin. Perfect for hunting!

This reminds me of a story of one of my classmates and an impromptu blowgun. he used one of the big plastic pixie stick tubes and a tack. unfortunately for him, he inhaled instead of exhaled, and swallowed the tack.

the tube is still posted on our science teacher's bulletin board.
