bouncy sugru bumper for iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S + NEW VIDEO

After having sugru bumpers on my iPhone for a year I learned just how protective they are...
so I made this video to show you just how much I trust them !!!

Can you put the bumpers back on after you take it off?

once you remove the bumpers you can't put them back on.

You can easily create a new set from fresh sugru, or, if you remove the original bumpers carefully, you can use much less sugru to mount them back onto your phone.

I personally prefer using 4 mini tennis balls. You simply cut a slit in each and slide the mini-tennis balls onto each corner of the iPhone... or any similar phone.

I'm sorry for commenting on your post mman1506 but my iPod won't let me leave my own comment :/ and our pc is broken ATM with a Trojan horse virus so I'm forced to use my iPod touch :( anyway I was wondering if you could still use sugru with a iPod or iPhone case but stick it onthe outside of it because I really like my case and it's helped alot but I still get a massive crack down my screen which I've replaced 3 times now! :( I really would like to know. hey, that should totally work, (although sugru does not stick to all plastics) Here is one from Matthew, he had a similar problem to you and when he was fixing the crack, he got carried away, it looks totally awesome... James

Okay thank you :) I've got this cool Case I found of eBay called devil case and I was so happy when I found this but just remembered that I had the case so now in happy that it will hopefully stick

I have a problem mixed with a question.... I really want some sugru as it does seem to be a great substance or item whatever you wanna call it...... the problem is I live in the UK and i can't find anywhere that sells sugru, is there anyway of getting it in the UK?

Hi delta1998, I imagine that 1 sachet would cover the sides of the iPhone considering that you wouldn't want to cover buttons etc. but if you wanted to create the bumpers as well you would probably need a second sachet.

If the make the 30 dock out hole too small and tight like with the Bumper it makes it impossible to dock your iPhone with it on. I just bought a dock extender that I love from gadgetboost.com so I don't have to take off the bumper to dock.  good stuff!  Opens things up to addition tight docks like the OtterBox

Has anyone tried this with screen protectors? Would you recommend placing screen protectors first and then Sugru over them (maybe a better bonding surface?) OR would you mold the Sugru and then custom-cut screen protectors to fit around the Sugru?

Hi prosilire, yup, you'll be pleased to know that this has been tried. sugru did not bond to the screen protector on Kary's first generation iPhone. Not sure what brand the protector was but I am guessing that they are all pretty much the same... I would recommend placing your screen protector first and then sugru over that, it worked a treat for Karys :) James

I LOVE THIS HACK! I molded it over front & back screen protecters to which the Sugru bonded nicely I've had blue sugru on my iPhone 4 corners for a month now. They are still on tight! BENEFITS: 1) I get many comments from people about how cool they look. I should sell the stuff! 2) The sugru corners give my fingers leverage when holding the phone. Hard to describe, but the minimal amount of Sugru goes a long way to keep the phone confidently in hand. 3) Protection. Despite comment 2 above, I fumbled and DROPPED MY PHONE TWICE today, once onto wood and once onto a metal grate. The phone actually BOUNCED and emerged unscathed!! Thanks for this amazing Instructable!

Thanks nickodemus, no, I haven't dropped too far yet, but I'm sure it will. I had the same hack on my iPhone 3G, that worked brilliant and took quite a bit of abuse.
