A good way to pass an afternoon or lazy night in front of the TV! This basket is made from old t-shirts that are made into a braid and then sewn together. It'll take a few hours to make a basket, but it's pretty easy. And it's a great way to use old t-shirts. You can make cute baskets to store ALL THE THINGS!

Don't have any extra t-shirts but you've got a load of plastic shopping bags? Check out my instructable on making a basket out of plastic bags!

Great idea! This is mine. I sorta did what Anodean said, so you can't see the stitches from the outside. And I put some glue on the inside so it'd be a little firmer.

Thank you! I'd say that it took around four hours... it's much easier than making a basket from plastic bags, that's for sure!

Very nice use of materials! You might want to explore the techniques used in making braided rugs. There is a method of lacing the braids together invisibly by using a blunt needle between the lobes of the braids rather than piercing them. I think you would be pleased by the results. :D

Oh, that sounds awesome. I'm going to go google now, thanks for telling me about that technique. :D

Excellent! You did a beautiful job on that braid, btw. Not so easy to get that right, especially with stretchy material. :D

Just make sure to cut it out as explained here:
http://www.instructables.com/id/t-shirt-yarn/step2/Lay-the-t-shirt-flat-on-the-floor-and-make-the-fir/

And then, as you braid it and you're coming to the end of the yarn, just sew new strands to the strands in the braid. :)
