Step 1: First step

Take your bottle and drill a small hole in the bottom. Make sure it is big enough for a flame to go in.

Step 2: Step 2

take your barrel and attach it to the bottle using duct tape. Make sure its snug and cant move.

Step 3: Step three

Take your ammo and put it down the barrel (cotton balls are fun). Then spray some flamable of your choice into the little hole, wipe off the liquid that gets on the outside.THis will cause the plastic to catch on fire. Then lite it and bam your 1 minute gun.

cool!
you may want to add a piezo from a disposable lighter as an ignition source, as you just press a button and make a spark instead of sticking a match in the end and blowing ur hand off. also, wot flammable would u recommend?

plz reply.
That cannon is smaller than a potato cannon I made and fired with standard matches, firing a progectile fifty feet up and I never lost anything
what is a flame?
 omg.. FAIL. its fire.
I wouldnt use a soda bottle I'd use a Metal Thermos or something with a hole in and a Electronic Bbq lighter instead of a flame Alot more safe and I'd use hairspray and things like Popcorn Kernals hehe

It'd really have if you had specified what to use for the barrel, flammable substance and ammunition.
I have this feeling that this isn't too safe since you're using a soda bottle as your blasting chamber and all you did was tape it onto a pipe.... Another item of interest: "screw you i will spelll how i want to.", not instructable friendly talk. Even though Dr. No could have pointed out the grammer/spelling abit nicer, that isn't any excuse for you to make a poorly written instructable that you seem to have no intention to fix.

no intention to fix open your eyes i did. Sorry i didnt use "instructable friendly talk" so ha i did fix it so dodnt say i have no intentions to fix it!
When I read your instructable, it hadn't been "fixed" (and yes, I clicked the refresh button before posting my comment). Technically, no it isn't "fixed". Any good reader will realize that you still made errors in your instructable (not including the intro). You may also want to include a warning about how this cannon is dangerous somewhere in your intro.
hunterss (author)  FrenchCrawler7 years ago
well i think anyone with eyes can realize that this is dagerous
That much is true, but unless you post a disclaimer, you can be sued for any damage this project causes.
It is better to warn and be safe, then not have warned and be sorry.

did a cotton ball really make that hole?!?!?

you could step really fast on the bottle and it'll launch, but i like your idea better.

These do work. I made two 'barrels' from steel tubes I found in a dump-master. From work I took home sturdy 1 liter plastic bottles that were to be thrown out and cut a little hole in the bottom for a piezo spark gun. One of the barrels presses nicely onto the lid of a bottle, the other barrel has a smaller diameter and had to be duct-taped to it's lid. For ammunition I like to use gum nuts from eucalyptus trees, wrapped in a piece of tissue paper which acts as a sabot and provides a good gas seal. This tissue also allows the nut to slip down the barrel smoothly but then falls away after leaving the barrel. Cutting a cardboard 'X' sabot also allowed me to shoot irregularly shaped little stones and marbles. Load the barrel, squirt some ethanol into the mouth of the bottle, screw the barrel onto the bottle, aim, insert piezo spark gun into it's firing hole and bang. I too rather carelessly blew a hole in my wall with a gum nut and will have to fix it up. A puff of butane can also be used as a propellant.

Hello fellow maker and welcome to the community;

It appears that this instructable does not meet the quality standards the community deems necessary for this site. While you may be able to leave your instructable as it is - doing so will likely lead to lowering your credible standing within the community. Your credibility is all we (the community) know of about you. Establish yourself in good standing and the community is more likely to assist you later on and give constructive feedback. Below you will find a tentative list to help you find your mistakes.

- Spelling and grammar. Instant messenger-speak has no place here. Honestly, making the choice to misspell words when documenting a project simply shows a lack of self respect. Take pride in your work and others will find it a worthy project. Take the time to spell the whole word, capitalize the first letter in a sentence, and spell check. If the title itself has an obvious spelling mistake (not to be confused with a typo), then there's obviously no solid intent. FireFox2 has built in spell checking. Or if you prefer, there is a wide variety of third party spell checkers (such as tinySpell). Non English speakers are an exception if you post in English. However, these rules apply when using any native language. As said, the occasional "typo" is a special case - while proof reading is highly recommended, we can accept that even the best spell checker can't catch everything.

- Pictures. Posting "pictures are not necessary" is a cop out. This shows a lack of initiative and motivation on your part. The only exceptions are self evident (for example: a picture of a soldering iron is not necessary as this tool can be considered "common knowledge").

- Completed projects. Not finished with your project yet? Please don't bother publishing it. Your projects are saved so you can take as much time as you want to document, construct and edit. Posting - "I'll post more later" is a misuse of the tools available to you and is frowned upon within this community. When your project is done and documented - publish it and take pride in your work. Otherwise, your project will be "buried" before you update.

- Copycats. To be blunt: So your pen launcher has the rubber band on the side and not the top. Who cares? If you have a slightly modified version of someone else's projects - post a picture of it in their project's comments. Exceptions are only for similar projects in which the process is very different. So you built a rubber band pen launcher and cryogenic case hardened it - well, that may have merit.

- Spam. Blatantly copied projects with an obvious lack of understanding of why it works. Unauthorized advertisements are considered spam and are not tolerated by the community.

-For the Sake of... Posting a project because you just registered and feel you need to post something is frowned upon. Take your idea and give it time to grow and time to let it grow on you.

What the community likes to see.
Projects that are well thought out and properly documented using clear language. Doing so shows you invested the time and effort - this establishes your credibility within this community and makes the experience more enjoyable for your viewers.
what the hell this was a good instructable

nobody care not even one bit
Wow.... just wow..... and to think trebuchet was trying to be nice to you and gave you a list of things to check..... Actually there's a whole community that cares which apparently you don't care to join (especially with that kind of attitude).
No he's right -- nobody does care about his project - especially not anymore. At this point - if someone did care - someone would have given it a positive rating...
I didn't even think to look at it from that angle.... good point :P

You know what, you should just leave the site if you're going to treat other people on the site like carbon. I thought your idea was okay when I saw it, but since you treat the people who actually thought enough to post some comments on it, I hope with all of my heart that you clean up your act and listen to the "be nice" policy.
good speach!!! what does "if you're going to treat other people on the site like "carbon" mean?good speach anyway!!
