cheap taser from fly trap rocket !!

cheap taser from fly trap rocket !!
hi,

i always wanted to make a taser that's cheap and works well without doing much about it .
what you need is :

- fly trap rocket
- 2 spikes
- some plastic
- fine wire
- soldering kit

tell me what you think about this instructable !!!
here is a video of the taser in action on a screw driver :

Step 1Transforming the original rocket

transforming the original rocket
first open up the rocket (without the batteries in it)

first we are going to cut the 2 wires that run from the circuit board to the yellow piece.
anddesolder the two wires from the circuit board also

dont forget to rate !!!

could u actually use this for a power device for a coil gun? PLS ANSWER!!!
Aug 31, 2009. 7:37 AMfirefighter1333 says:
if the barrel will be for .079? (2 mm), COULD it then work? (wanna make a mini coil gun, cuz that would be totally rad, right?) and the projectile had at leats to be ferrowmagnetic ait? ty alrdy!

Ok, late reply but you could use this in a coilgun. The thing is that you need a capacitor bank, you could probably use this "zapper" to charge the caps. I'm kinda new at this but for your and your families sake use extreme caution. Depending on your caps you could easily kill yourself or hurt something. Be careful and have fun

did a lot of experiments with it and yes it worked to charge a capacitor bank, i dont make coil guns anymore (they are sooo weak...) electrothermic guns and remote electric ignition devices are the only things i make using this now ;D

but thx anyway's ;)

try adding a 9 volt battery instead of 2 AA ,
you can olso cut the resistor between the conectors of the racket ,
just cut, bend away or desolder
CAREFUL, THE POWER WILL STAY IN FOR +30 seconds, youre gonna have to discharge it, or will may shock yourself...

can i add capacitors to the circuit so it could up the voltage?

can i add some capacitors in there so that it could increase the voltage??

Thanks for the instructable.

Made one last night in 30 minutes.
I only used a EU-standard double pin power plug in stead of the two spikes, makes a bit easier for installation. I just had to solder the wires from the plug to the two connectionpoints on the IC board, et presto!!

I don't understand how you can get 1500V. Is it powered by normal batteries? How is it possible?

Capacitors

But as I can see the size of capacitors is small....maybe  330mf or more but not  more than 470mf. I wonder how you can produce current of 1500 with 4 capacitors of this size!!! maybe you mean 150V

Anyway I have one of these Rackets and I try it very soon...Here in Greece they sell them just for 3-5 euros

im sorry but whats a fly trap rocket, ive googled it and all i found was these pics on instructables

rAcket,  not rocket

I think what you ment is a fly swatter?? and by the way it is not a 'rocket' it is a RACKET.Tried the project it is fun! :)

Hey it says in the instructions, fly rocket, it's the author that said that, i'm just quoting it.

i saw a bunch of them in the store, I KNOW WHAT I'LL BUY TOMORROW

You sir, are a genius. I have bought my fly swatter and am modifying it now! I think it would be more appropriately called a cattle prod though

Finished! mine has only one voltage multiplier and only gets 420VDC, but it's still pretty painful :D You can pick one of these up off ebay for £4 ($8)

I got one from "Jacks", which is sort of a DIY/outdoor store, for £1.50. I used 4 AA batteries in it, and it hurts. Alot.

It isn't a TASER.
Aug 16, 2009. 6:54 AMel_nico_dor says:
so what would you call it??
Jan 22, 2009. 10:59 AMbabbs1st says:
if you put a capacitor from a disposable camera it's a hell of a lot stronger but I can't work out on this thing where the capacitor is as it's not round like usual is it the big thing with yellow tape on it
Jul 18, 2009. 9:13 AMomnibot says:
As Des1973 said, this is a voltage multiplier but if you can figure out wich of the output prongs are + and - the connect a photoflash cap there, it should give quite a boost at initial contact.
Feb 12, 2009. 2:45 AMDes1973 says:
no, the big thing with yellow tape on it is the step-up transformer. the capacitors, 4 in this circuit, are the square/rectangular green things. they're connected to the diodes & form a voltage multiplier (4x).
Aug 18, 2009. 5:14 PMhg341 says:
no its not a transformer its a dc to dc converter

i have fly racket with built in charger, it seems deadly because when i hunt stupid flies, then if they get into the fly rocket net or what u call that metal or aluminum net blablabla, they sparks like hell, omg im excited to test this intractable on my friends, they gonna die ouching, lols, to all, if you are interested making this thingy, use it wisely, dont use it to your mom or you will get spanked, chow

Very cool gadget! Recently found one for cheap, so I had to buy it! Call it a version 2.0 of your original mod. :) Added some warning stripes, and used small spikes made from Dremel bits (I was humane - they were well used beforehand!). Used rubber grommets to hold them in place. Also added a 'safety catch' - a flick switch between the battery and the circuitboard - no more accidental self-zappings! It's soldered in & glued. Final mod was purely asthetic - a blue ultrabrite LED in place of the boring red one - Much cooler! Sharpie to blacken the screws. Gets 780 volts with fresh Duracell AAs. Still hurts! Thanks for the great Instructable, Alex! C.

ok this sounds off a bit but ive seen videos of people getting tazed by 300k volts and that only stuned them so much...so i dont realy see 1500 volts doing a whole lot...but i may be wrong. who knows =\

One of the much better Tazers on here and a good design.

Seems kinda dangerous but a nice instructable, good clear instructions and pictures. Approxomately how big is it?
Aug 10, 2008. 6:47 AMRye2121 says:
Its about 1 ft long. Maybe more depending on what kind of fly racket you have

the picture makes it seem like the size of a pen
