Introduction: Cleaning Coins Using Electrolysis

About: i am 16 year old, soon 17, kid . i am from Serbia . I am now 2nd grade in High School and i like making simple things because i am learning through that. i am really interested in electronics, bikes, and fishing

hello.
today i will show you how to clean old rusted coins. i know that there is thousands of videos how to do it but i am doing this only because there is a lots of people who thinks that electrolysis is to complicated and they arent ready to do it ( like i used to be)
so first what you need is 9v battery ( or 6v,12v,5v wall charger) and alligator clips for holding coin and 2nd thing spoon.
when you got all this things you will take plastic container ( i used nutella glass container) and fill it up with lukewarm water.
in water you will add sea salt ( one coffee spoon) and mix it just a little bit so that salt melt in water

now black wire is gnd and you will clip it to coin and red wire to spoon
put it in water and make sure that spoon and coin  dont have conntact

and thats it.
from cristal clear water in just few seconds you will see brown, full of mud water.
i said that you can use wall charer, with battery is really slow and battery dont last long,i prefer using 6v or 12 v charger, you can leave it for  2 hours and the coin will be clean

only one attention, please do this outside or in ventilated room because this process release H (hydrogen) and it could get on fire

but dont be affraid of, just do it
