WHEN YOUR PC FREEZES
one of the most common problems to ocure with a pc is when everything freezes or locks up while you are using an application, and the mouse and key board will not respond.

well in this Instructable I am going to show you how to fix this problem

Step 1: Freezes and Lockups

Picture of Freezes and Lockups

first, give your PC a moment to sort your self out.
never hastily turn the pc off as this can lead to further problems.

Step 2: Using Colntrol, Alt, and Delete

Picture of Using Colntrol, Alt, and Delete

after waiting a while, try to close the locked-up application by using the key combination off
CTRL + ALT + DEL.

holding down these simultaneously should display the windows task manager .

Step 3: Windows Task Manager

this box shows all the applications that are currently running on your system and next to the locked up application there shod be a message that reads : NOT RESPONDING

click on the name of the application in the dialog box, and click on the end task button .

Step 4: End Task or Shutdown

if the software still refuses to close immediately, wait a few moments before pressing
ctrl + alt + del again, which shod reboot your machine. if the computer still won't respond, then you will have to press the restart button on the front of your PC, if you have one. if you don't have a restart button then you will have to turn the machine off, wait 15 seconds and then turn it on again in the conventional way.

Ok!!! if anyone has a problem with an app that crashed but your cursor wont come up on the main screen and only in the hotbar... do CTRL ALT DEL and then SIGN OUT. it will say that something is preventing you from doing this act but all you need to do is wait. your computer will sign out and that crashed window that you couldnt close with task manager will no longer be present!

You are welcome

its a common problem, but what we can do if the situation like in 3d game that hang and the Program manager cannot close it because the screen always show only the game upper the program manager. The problem occur at the modified GTA game, so what i need is the GTA killer or universal app killer, can u help me to solve this ?

Try holding down Alt, then pressing tab multiple times. This cycles through open programs and sometimes breaks it out of current full screen application.

ctrl + alt + delete usually brings up a menu where task manager is an option. instead, press ctrl + shift + esc and the task manager will instantly appear. its faster too

. The three-finger salute (C-A-D) invokes the Task Mgr in Win XP Pro (as does C-S-E). I just tried both.

maybe theres settings for it - at my school they use winXP and ctrl alt delete brings up a menu with task manager, power options, log off, etc. it happens on my computer running vista as well

i agree with lemonie. you missed a part. I find when something stalls firefox its way fater to go to processes and end firefox.exe its the same for other things too

sparkdex (author)wee_man2009-03-22

Yeah ending the process works everytime, end task sometimes doesnt work.
