Introduction: Convert Smartphone to a Smartwatch for Under $10, Easy DIY

i love having a smartwatch but cant stand the puny screen and pathetic battery life. i knew i wanted something much more useful so i came up with this idea....

Perfect for fitness apps like Strava where you always want to see distance/speed/ and Maps.

Step 1: 2 Materials You Will Need

1- arm strap for mp3 player or smartphone. the one i have is MPOW designed for iphone 5. you can get this for $6 online

2- a smartphone. mine is LG L70 from metroPCS. it was $30, no contract plan.

so pop the phone into the strap. wear it on your wrist instead of your arm. done! enjoy your smartwatch with a bigger screen, much better battery life. never missed a notification because your phone was in your pocket or purse. yes, you can talk like Dick Tracy via speakerphone too!

why pathetic battery life? my Samsung gear s have 7 days of life

Gear S doesnt have full maps of where you are and other useful infos when you are driving a motocycle or bicycle in the woods

Do they have the strap designed for all phones? I have a Motorola Moto G, I have to try this!

there are straps for all phone sizes.

Nice idea.

Do you know of any app that keeps a constant display of the current time (and maybe, date, weather, etc.)? Of course, that may kill the battery time, too much to be usable.

i know there are a lot of apps for tablet that will do what you want, i just dont know the names. on my phone, when i hit the home button to turn the phone on, i see the time/date/weather instantly

Ok, thanks. I will look further.

Hahaha great idea! How to you talk to people when you receieve a call?

when i receive a call, i hit the Green icon as i normally would. then i hit Speaker. talk to them via speakerphone.
here's my challenge to phone manufacturers. make a smartphone about 3.5 inches or 4 inches wide. do not make phones any bigger. please! make a wrist strap that lets me easily pop the phone in or out. that way if i want to talk privately with my mom, i can easily pop it out of the wrist holder and talk as normal. afterward, i can pop the phone back in to view maps, youtube, or emails.....
