follow the steps and make a DIY led running heart. ....Gift it to your..... love or just do it for fun
Also this is my first instructable!
Step 1: Components and Tools Required
1. integrated circuit (ic)
10 micro farad/16v (electrolytic)
2.7 kilo ohms
10 kilo ohms (potentiometer or fixed resistor
4. 9v battery
5. 9v battery clip
6. general purpose board
7. LED(red-or any colour you like)
1. nose plair
2. wire cutter/stripper
3. soldering iron
4. bread board
5. and others.......
Also select a good looking box or container to fix the heart.
Step 2: Circuit Diagram
the second picture shows how to connect the led's
CD4017 is a 16 pin CMOS decade counter/ Divider. It takes clock signal from the clock input and turns on the 10 output in sequence, each time when it receives clock input pulses. A popular IC, CD4017 is extremely useful in various projects like Light Chaser, Matrix Die. It is also useful in many applications like Binary counter/decoder, frequency division, divide by N counting, Alarm system etc.
Step 3: Testing on Breadboard
Step 4: Time to Solder the Circuit
check the soldering for any short circuit or miss connection.
While soldering the 555 ic make sure that you dont heat it too much as that can kill the ic.
Using an ic base is recommended.
Step 5: Building the Led Heart
take your containers lid.
start by drawing a heart shape on it.Now mark where the led is to be placed.make holes usin a pin for attaching the led's
Now place them on the lid
Step 6: Bringing the Heart to Life
Connect the out put wiers from the CD4017 ic with corresponding led's.start connecting from the top most led to the bottom one.
solder the connections securely.
short the whole negative pins of the led by bending and soldering and connect to the circuit board.
now fix the whole circuit including battery, switch to the container.
And there you go your led runnig heart is finished....
turn the potentiometers knob to adjest the led's running speed.
Use this for decorating, gifting whatever you prefer...
