And trust me this filter costed me Rs 400/- while the same type of filter with half the capability wud hav costed me more than 1k................

5 - waterproof sealant or silicon

Also, there are many sealants that are harmful to aquariums, including many types of silicone. Look for silicone AQUARIUM sealant. If you can't find it at a hardware store, look for it at a pet store.
However if the media became plugged, the unit would overflow. I would put a hole in the partition above the higher sponge to allow the water to bypass should the media plug up. I would also put some bio material in the second chamber so that you can clean the first chamber without destroying the bacteria colony.
