make a great case for youn NDS or other electronic device easily out of nothing more than denim fabric and duct tape.

Step 1: Get Your Materials

gather needed materials.
1. duct tape
2. denim/ other heavy but not scratchy material.
3. NDS
4. self adhesive velcro (optonal)

Step 2: Cut Denim to Size

lay your nds on the fabric and cut out a suitably sized length of fabric. slightly wider than the ds and long enouth to wrap around.

Step 3: Cover Denim in Tape, Cut to Actual Size

cover one side of the denim in duct tape. cut so that it is exactly the same width as the ds

Step 4: "hem" Edges

fold tape over all the edges.

Step 5: Make Sides.

attach two pieces and fold over to create the pocket as shown. make sure ds fits comfortably and snugly. add tape to inside to keep it from popping up like in the pic.

Step 6: Trim Length

put ds into the pocket and wrap remaining length around. trim to desired length. i left mine long to wrap around the back so i can add pockets for games later. hem that edge with tape also. cover inside flap with tape if desired.

Step 7: Add Velcro

stick velcro to flap and pocket to hold it shut.

Step 8: Finished!

your case is finished. it is easily customizable. add pockets, designs, whatever.
I like this <a href="http://ebluar.com/video-games/nintendo-ds-accessories/dsi-xl-cases-bags.html" rel="nofollow">nintendo ds case</a>. It is very simple to made.
do u meen wrap around once as in its edge to edge or do u mean overlapping edges??
Cool! I'll make one.
did you just fold it to make the pocket or did you use 2 peices and stuck them in
This is cool. I will definitely make this. The only downside is that duct tape smells bad....but then again, it is nearly free!
yeah it smells bad but why would you even think of sniffing your ds case lol
That is undeniably cool, though I would have made a full pocket on the bottom instead of a flap. Extra work, yes, but it would hold your games better. Or maybe just tape an Altoids gum tin to the top/bottom of the case to hold 8, 9, maybe 10 games.
LOVE IT! good work. i'm making one for my boyfriend tonight lol.
are u still 2 gether?
haha no. but im sure he still has it! hahaha
kool hope he likes it by also can i use this for my dsi
yes since the dsi is the same dimensions or very very close
i got one made of paper and duckk tape should i posty?
hell yeah!!! i wanna see
o-course i don't have much denim so that would be awesome
this inspires me to make a little sleeve to carry your DS in
i'll make this, but ill make pockets on it for my other electronics like my ipod.
how do you stick the velcro? tried fabric glue and super glue, they didn't work.
use the brand Scotch: reclosable fasteners they have sticky backsides u can find them at wal-mart
how do you get velcro 2 stick?
is there anything you could use besides denim fabric
i'm sure other kinds of fabric would work. denim was just what i had on hand. you could even forego the fabric and make it all tape. just stick pieces of half overlapping tape together sticky side in to make tape sheet, and then use pieces of that to make the case.
thanks, I made a case kinda like this but forgot to add a little extra for the front flap. And the way I made pockets was to make them to the size of the game and use more tape to put them on the back.
pretty neat... it's even shinier than the ones you buy at the sore!
I like it alot (even my dad likes it) i added some game cases from the ds phat case and it is awesome (and relativley free)
im soooo going to do this! Welcome to your new home little DS Lite!
awwwww idint tat qute
I've been reading Instructables for months, but this is the first thing I've made. Thanks for the idea!
thanks. i didnt wanna go and blow like twenty dollars on a case that isnt even as good as the one i made here. i like the pocket you added, i was going to do that, but i never got around to it for some reason.
this is cool. all other cases suck
Here's my version I substituted duct tape for packing tape because 1)I like the denim look and 2)I didn't have duct tape
i guess i forgot to put that part in there. when i made it i never really measured anything. the side piece should be the same length as the pocket part is tall, and wide enough to close up the sides with room to tape them in. with my case for a DS lite, it was approximately 2 5/8" x 2 1/2".
Nice little case. I've been meaning to make/buy something to protect my DS. I may be missing something, but when am I cutting the "side" piece that is attached to the longer part cut out in step 2? How big should it be?
