Introduction: Easy Painted Embellishment

Find an interesting piece of furniture that needs some embellishment. This small table has a solid wood top and sturdy iron base. The table top was easily separated from the base by undoing screws. That saved me from having to be extra careful while painting.

I spread out some newspaper and set a spare phone book on the news paper. The table top was placed on a handy phone book to elevate the work.

The coats of paint were let dry and then I planned my embellishment.

Step 1: Use What You Have...

Painting a straight line is hard. So is cutting out a stencil. By using a disposable chopstick I was able to create an design with minimal headache that can be as simple or as complex as you like.

Step 2: The Big Reveal

Here's my new table top... with the simple but attractive design.
