The contents of the egg are emptied out and mixed, and then put back in the egg. So when a person cracks the egg open they expect to see the yoke and egg whites, but the egg is all mixed up.

I think the prank-ee would realize that the egg was empty as soon as they pick it up (due to lack of weight), I would suggest filling it with some other substance. (Perhaps dyed water, syrup, or maybe even jello) Then fill the hole with super-glue to prevent it from leaking.
