Introduction: Fischertechnik Easter Rabbit

This is a description of how to create a model of the Easter Rabbit using fischertechnik elements!

I play with different educational manipulatives for a living. (Visit www.weirdrichard.com). Over the years I have built different holiday themed models using all sorts of toys. This instructable will describe how to create a model of the Easter Rabbit carrying an egg basket!

Note: The CAD looking images were generated by LDraw/MLCAD and a fischertechnik elements library.

Step 1: Gather Fischertechnik Elements

You will need to gather your elements. The fischertechnik elements are available from a range of kits available from ebay, Craig's List, or fischertechnik retailers. Elements can be purchased individually from www.fischertechnik.com.

The List:

4 Angular Block 60 Degrees
1 Angular Block 30 degrees
1 Winch Drum
1 Link 15
2 Link 30
1 Clip Axle 20
1 Spring Cam
6 Building Block 30
5 Building Block 15
1 Building Block 15 with 2 Pins
1 Clip Axle 30
1 Clip Adapter
4 Chain Link
2 Single Rivet 4
1 Building Block 5 with two Pins
2 Coupling 30

Step 2: Ft Easter Rabbit

Begin a leg by inserting a Building Block 15 into a Building Block 30.

Step 3: Ft Easter Rabbit Continued

Insert a Building Block 15 with 2 Pins into the side of the Building Block 15. Slide a Link 15 into the top of the Building Block 15 with 2 Pins, and an Angular Block 60 into the rear face of the Building Block 15 with 2 Pins.

Step 4: Ft Easter Rabbit Continued

Add a second leg by sliding a second combination of Building Block 15 and Building Block 30.

Step 5: Ft Easter Rabbit Continued

Slide a Building Block 30 onto the Link 15. Insert a Link 30 into the Building Block 30.

Step 6: Ft Easter Rabbit Continued

Slide a Building Block 30 onto the Link 30.

Step 7: Ft Easter Rabbit Continued

Create two Easter Rabbit arms by adding a Building Block 15 on each end of the uppermost Building Block 30. Add an Angular Block 60 onto the front face of each Building Block 15.

Step 8: Ft Easter Rabbit Continued

Center a Building Block 5 with two Pins on the top of the Easter Rabbit. Set the model aside.

Step 9: Ft Easter Rabbit Continued

Begin the Easter Rabbit's head by sliding a Link 30 onto a Building Block 30. Center a Building Block 15, which will act as a nose, on the Building Block 30.

Step 10: Ft Easter Rabbit Continued

Add a Building Block 30 to the Link 30.

Step 11: Ft Easter Rabbit Continued

Make two pairs of two chain links to act as whiskers. Insert the chain pairs into the sides of the Building Block 15.

Step 12: Ft Easter Rabbit Continued

Slide two Rivet 4s into the upper Building Block 30 to act as eyes.

Step 13: Ft Easter Rabbit Continued

Add an Angular Block 60 and an Angular Block 30 to the top face of the uppeor Building Block 30. Fix a pair of Couping 30s on the angular blocks to act as bunny ears.

Step 14: Ft Easter Rabbit Continued

Slide the head assembly onto the Building Block 5 with 2 Pins.

Step 15: Ft Easter Rabbit Continued

Construct the egg basket by inserting a Clip Axle 30 into a Winch Drum. Top the axle with a Clip Adapter. Fix the assembly onto one of the rabbit's arms with a Clip Axle 20.

Step 16: Ft Easter Rabbit Finished
