you should put a couple of screw eyes in there to tie the line to so you can secure it to stick or tree.

well actually ive seen fish under docks and for the hell of it i ripped a gumym worm up by each segment and dropped it and what do ya know? They love it! So i put it on a hook and caught minnows...thats what happens when the power goes out to a computer....boredom.....

I'd think anything small and floating would work to catch minnow; they seem to think anything like that might be yummy and they'll go check it out. When I was a kid we'd go camping a lot; I used to catch minnow using wild grass seed and coffee cans. Then they'd mysteriously disappear when my dad and his friends went looking for bigger fish. :)
