Introduction: Hawiian Hand- Held Harpoon Gun

About: i live in GA and love to do many things. i am very creative. i love to always have alot of pets and love to go hunting for animals on good days. my favorit movie is halloween and all of those scary movies.

I will show you how to make a small hand-held harpoon fishing gun. this is the kind they used in hawii along time ago and many people still use them. sorry i do not have any images of the one i made but i am not at home and can not get a picture of it. but here is a picture of a very nice handmade wooden one.

Step 1: Supplies

here is what you will need to make a harpoon gun.

1. 1 foot long of PVC pipe
2. one of those gigantic rubber bands
3. strong tape like electrical tape
4. a knife
5. a light whight stick that is about 3 1/2 feet long and can easily fit into the PVC pipe

Step 2: Put It Together

take your PVC pipe and cut thr rubberband so you have about 1 foot long strip of rubber. then get tape the rubber strip and tape one side onto the bottom end of the PVC pipe do the same with the other rubber end of the rubber strip but on the other side of the PVC pipe so the two ends of the rubber strip are taped parralell to each other. that is your harpoon gun. it should look like the picture below.
now time to make the harpoon.

Step 3: The Harpoon

there are two ways to make an effective harpoon. the first way is to take you stick and on one end take the knife and sharpen a point on one end of the stick. how simple is that! the second way is to get two sewing neddles and put them point up in one end of the stick so they are parallel to eachoter and tape them on.

Step 4: Shooting

to shoot it you can be on land are in the water. it works better in the water. put the blunt end of the stick throu the PVC pipe so the blunt end is touching the rubber band. grap the stick and hold it onto the rubber band and pull it back and let go. it is kinda like a slingshot but with a tube insted of a Y shaped stick.

Step 5: Your Done

now you are done! i do not suggest hunting with this on land. but it is fine to fish for fish like yellow fin, snapper, and some smaller times of fish. but do not go for the large fish! you do not want to injure a fish. and there are also many dangers with spear fishing so be careful when you go out. also check your local laws about spear fishing. i am not resposable for anything you do with this. THIS IS NOT A TOY!
here are some pictures!
