This is another version of my Manly Home Made air Conditioner(Can also Heat). Here is a link to the first version: http://www.instructables.com/id/Hollis-homemade-AC/
it will cool very well, and keeps my 10x15 room cool.
Please answer my question, if you can.

If I were to build one, I would get a small refrigerator and put a small bucket of water and the pump in the fridge and run the cold water out to the fan. That way you would still be using energy for the fridge but the fridge is now acting as a refrigerator and an air conditioner.

How long does it cool

Does this work better than the previous version?

it does blow more cold air, but in the long run, the other system will work better. I am about to improve it by cooling the water with a pelter.
junits15 says: Aug 7, 2009. 6:15 PM
then again the pelter generates ALOT of heat, i have a 168 watt one ind there is so much heat I need a watercooling rig to make it work, and i have yet to get my hands on anything with the power to cool it. just a word of advice

I have a metal bin that i stick into the ice chest, and the peltier sits on top of that. The ice chest is outside, so the peltier's heat is relesed outside, as it's cool side cools the water.

Peltiers use alot of energy to make a small cooling effect

Are you covering putting something between your lid and cooler? This last photo is confusing.

How many "frozen items" are you using in the cooler? Also, how long does it cool the 10x15 room?

I live in the Phoenix area and we are hitting 110 degree temperatures this time of year. I currently work with two floor fans and a ceiling fan circulating air in my office. I am thinking this Cooler A/C might be a good thing to undertake and cool my office with this instead of the two fans.

I was planning to make something similar to this for cooling my dog's port-a-kennel at events in the Texas heat. Simplicity is key, and I already have a battery-powered camping fan. My first sketches were kind of a cross between your first and second designs. How well does this one cool?

Hi. I would like to know if there is an advantage to having the fan mounted on the top as compared to having it on one end blowing straight across the ice or packs and then straight out through holes on the opposite end > seems like the flow would be less restricted

nope

I think it would've been better if you put the holes more towards the bottom so the air has more contact with the frozen water battles and ice blocks. Anyways good job.

this is your fist cooler from your first a/c isn't it?
