Picture of home-made rustic christmas wreath
scrounging the ground of my apartment complex, I found some good wreath making fodder. In this tutorial I'm using (what i think are) fir branches. Last year I made this with branches from a cedar tree and that was a little easier, pine would work well too.
I also have the tutorial posted on my blog at http://www.thescienceofcraft.com

Step 1: Materials & tools

Picture of materials & tools
gather some evergreen clippings (pine & cedare will last longer), you'll also need some thin (about 40 gauge) wire & some wire cutters.

Step 2: Start joining pieces

Take the single clippings and join them together to create fuller clippings (about the desired thickness of your final wreath).

Step 3: Join the groups

Start joinging each of the fuller bundles end to end in a circle.

Step 4: Clean up

Once it's together, it will probably need a bit of cleaning up. Tie back with the wire and trim as you see fit.

Step 5: Accessories and hook

double over the wire to create a hook in the back. Also add in any accessories, (berries, bows, etc.) with the wire.

I did not realize that you connected the clippings before attaching them to the base. Thanks

Hi, for the last few years i have made my wreaths out of holly, ouch and other words come to mind. Your instructions are very clear and this year i dont think i will be using much Holly if any. Thank You Oh and a BIG THANK YOU From my fingers
This is a great idea - it puts some color into the home, helps the room smell better, and just gets you in the holiday spirit. _

This seems like it would also make an easy, customizable gift. I feel like it needs some LEDs attached to it.
haha! that made me laugh!
I like it!

oh, no, what happened? Maybe your singles were too small? Do you know what kind of tree you got your clippings from? Though garland's nice too. If you want, maybe you could find a long twig or heavy gauge wire you could bend into a circle and mount your garland to? just a thought. cheers & have a happy holiday.
