homemade paintball gun

homemade paintball gun
This is my first Instructable so please excuse me if its not the best. This Instructable will show you how to build an air gun that will shoot all kinds of things. (I know the title is homemade paintball gun but i havnt tested it with paintballs yet. I hope they dont just pop in the barrel.)Mine cost about 13$ but it may cost more or less. Plus i already had the cement and primer.

YOU WILL NEED.....
1 TIRE REPLACEMENT VALVE (THE THING YOU PUMP AIR INTO ON A TIRE)
1 1IN PVC END CAP
1 3/4IN PVC BALL VALVE
1 3/4IN PVC NIPPLE
1 1IN TO 3/4IN PVC REDUCER
2 1IN PVC TEE
2 1IN 90 DEGREE PVC ELBOWS
A LENGTH OF 1IN PVC 6 FEET SHOULD BE ENOUGH
FIGURE OUT HOW LONG YOU WANT THE BARREL...
YOU WILL NEED A PIECE OF 3/4 IN PVC THE LENGHT YOU WANT YOUR BARREL
IF ANY OF YOUR PARTS SCREW ON THEN YOU WILL ALSO NEED PLUMBERS TAPE

*MAKE SURE YOUR PVC IS PRESSURE RATED. IF IT RUPSURES YOULL PROBOBLY BE IN THE HOSPITAL HAVING PVC DUG OUT OF YOU. I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR AANY DAMAGE YOU DO. THIS COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS. TREAT IT LIKE A REAL GUN.

Ha, yeah, don't shoot at anything you don't want broken. My dad said "Shoot it at the door" for my test shot. I didn't like the idea of putting a big dent in the door and having a ball bearing ricocheting around our garage, so I shot it at a dirt pile we've got.

and please tell me how its supposed to shoot?....it looks like a bunch of tubes connected together for looks....
Dec 12, 2010. 9:34 AMuberdum05 says:
You pump air into the handle which acts as a air tank for storage, then you disconnect the pump and load your ammo into the barrel then open the ball valve.
Look up things before you post comments and use your brain in a good way...... :(

is this a multi shot or does it have to be pumped every time its shot?

hey do you know any way to add a psi gauge?
Jul 26, 2010. 5:59 PMvennev says:
yea i do it all the time to my projects, if u buy a second tire valve and put it somewhere on the gun were air is and buy an air pressure gauge thats 0 to 120 about 10 incimints and put them together. its a bit more costly but worth it

i made one of these but improved it i actually made it with a fishing reel and put a harpoon into it to make it into a harpoon gun

i've been playing paintball for over 9 years and the most common paintball is .68 calaber. Spider however has made a .43 and a .50 caliber paintbqll marker. yes a larger barrel would mean less accurate but at 100 psi that'll only shoot close distance. probly 25 - 40 feet. unless you can add more pressure to the system, don't bother on improving your barrel.

3/4" pipe is good for holding paintballs.Bt who in here has ever played paintball? Paintballs are .68 caliber. 3/4" pipe has a caliber of .75 . It would fire, but i wouldn't be accurate and would waste alot of air.Nice instructable though. F.Y.I. I have played 30hrs of paintball. 40 welts total
Feb 14, 2010. 8:28 PMdla888 says:
Paintballs are not necessarily .68 caliber. They range from about .65-.78 caliber.

I have played for 5 yrs I play 2-4 times each month I have a professional team. I have too many welts to count I have been shoot by anti tanks ( rocket launchers that shoot foam rockets that dent metal bunkers that hurt like heck!!) and most every gun I have a planet eclipse ego that cost me $1200 with out upgrades! now before you say that 3/4in pvc don't have accuracy... have to used a sch. 80 pipe as the barrel it is the exact size fora paintball to fit in. now I have modded one of these and use steel fittings&its devastating as a mortar or sniper !! I say great Instructable!! PS use treaded parts and steel parts!!

I have played for 2yrs. I play 1-2 times a month and I play at an arena in my area. My gun was $20.00 and I love it. It's a Viewloader Lancer semi auto and I can fire it 7bps. It hasn't broken and it is easy to use.

I realy liked the gun. Two things I'd like to clarify, though: on the tire valve, use PLENTY of super glue or else it will leak. The other is to use a ball valve that is VERY easy to open or at a 100 P.S.I., fireing the gun will be painfull and dificult. Great instructable!
Jul 8, 2009. 3:34 PMclemsonguy1125 says:
i would use pvc cement and primer
Apr 25, 2008. 9:31 PMmking2012 says:
I made an RPG for airsoft, and I solved the ball valve problem by taping a thin PVC pipe to the handle for increased leverage.
Apr 26, 2008. 6:26 PMClCrow says:
THanks. I wish I had had the Brains to think of that myself. However, I used the type of ball valve that Ace carries, and even if I had extra leverage, It still wouldn't be easy.

should the reducer fit in to the tee?
Apr 30, 2008. 4:08 PMmking2012 says:
I have an unrelated question. I was wondering if you could use brass pipe, a high pressure hose, and a modded sprinkler valve connected to a CO2 tank. What I'm worried about is the pressure because I've heard that paint ball tanks are pressurized at around 800 PSI
Jan 3, 2009. 6:27 PMx133tx0n3x says:
Co2 Tanks for paintball are pressurized at somthing more like 1200-1400 PSI
Mar 25, 2009. 11:01 AMBOOM5601 says:
and air at 3000-4500 psi. >: )
Nov 22, 2008. 6:31 PMim_tux says:
but a co2 thank contains air for many shots. the pressure per shot it more like 50-70 depending on gun
