How to bypass Windows XP login passwords from scratch
This is my first instructable, so don't be too hard on me.
This instructable basically sums up most of the login bypassing methods posted on Instructables.

Step 1The golden disclaimer

The golden disclaimer
First, the standard disclaimer that goes with any good Instructable: This is to be used for instructional purposes only, and I am not liable for any damage or destruction to you or your computer that may occur from attempting this Instructable. In other words, if you delete your registry or mess with a school computer and get arrested, it's not my fault. And don't use this to get into someone else's computer either.*cough*

In XP Pro, if you have fast user switch turned on, you could just press ctrl+alt+del two times.

lol, Exactly. Another fun way to do this is to have a moment alone with the PC while it is logged in to any Administrative account. Then press windows+R to open the run box. Now type controluserpasswords2. Now feel free to blank or change any account password on the computer.
Nov 28, 2011. 12:34 PMshtihl says:
control userpasswords2 (just so you know correct format)

Why not use Windows xp Password reset disk, it is free! Or recover Windows XP password with Windows Password Rescuer, it also can be used to reset Windows 7 password if you forgot Windows 7 password.

Maybe this article also say about Windows XP password reset.
Instead of bypassing or hacking, Recover Windows XP password is legal.

I think you guys have forgotten that we're supposed to be discussing how to bypass Windows XP login passwords from scratch, not Windows and Vista popularity contests. Anyhoo, is it possible to get into an account without using command prompt? The school set a password on a user account that used to be open to everyone. Now my saved stuff is locked in it.

don't do this. google: UBCD4Win. It is awesome. Full ntfs reading/writing. Just boot away; and take back your files, leaving no trace.
Aug 29, 2011. 2:09 PMjerrytt says:
The UBCD4WIN program is lame enough. Installs after many "what if" questions, then when run won't take Windows 7 ultimate 64 or Windows XP Pro Service Pack 2 or find files. Too complicated to try and guess how to use it or get it to find files it needs

O.K., open Command prompt(if you don't know how to do this, or if your computer has it blocked, send me a message, and I can tell you how) then, type "net user"(without the quotations), and press enter. it should give you a list of users, and you should be able to tell which one you want, if you can't, try each one.

i dont know how to do that

Aug 17, 2009. 11:28 PMfreedom-1000 says:
there is another step, if the above steps fail, you can always download a password changer that is based in linux, usually in an iso format , download the ISO and burn it to a cd , then insert the new cd into the cd rom , and restart the computer. when the computer boots up it boot from the cd, the program on the cd will be a linux based program. and will be able to read the current password . when you get the password write it down. then exit the cd, and remove the cd , reboot the computer, ta da you now have the password without having to change anything on the computer, and since you used a linux based cd to boot the computer , windows does not make a record of the login or access to the password file. use the user name and password that the cd has given you and log into the system like it was your's ~!

Mar 23, 2008. 3:02 PM3r1c8y says:
on my guest account it when i execute the net user administrator * command and type in the password and confirm it, it says:
system error 5 has occured.

access is denied.

any way around this??

It is called ophcrack. Google it. Learn what it is. Download it. Write the disc image to a disc. Boot off it.
Apr 6, 2009. 7:17 PMInmate1440 says:
ophcrack is not exactly fast or covert and (hypothetically speaking of course) if a teacher sees it on your screen they will no doubt take a closer look, after that the shows over.
Apr 6, 2009. 7:30 PMgonturan says:
I would never be stupid enough to run my own operating system on a school computer, they would probably arrest me, who knows. I meant more for a home computer where you only have user rights and you parents aren't home.
Dec 25, 2008. 9:39 PMjbv6 says:
thats what happened to me too, i think its because the guest account is not an admin
Sep 13, 2010. 12:16 PMdllhacker says:
if you cannot run command prompt on limited users or guest accounts just open notepad, and type in start. save it as cmd.bat and open it and it should open up command prompt. if it isn't that being the problem, then it is most likely the ophcrack thing they described above.

can you give me an example ? i don't understand the instructions :D
Jan 29, 2009. 6:03 PMcoolguy says:
M$ is pretty retarded for leaving this vulnerability. If the admin account isn't showing up, you could also use the f8 method to login in safemode and hack the registry to enable the administrator account. There are also a other ways to hack user accounts from safe mode.

Windows sucks - Try getting into a linux box. I'm running fedora core 5 (yea I know its old, but it works) I don't get viruses and I'm waaaay more secure. The box said vista or BETTER, so I installed LINUX!!!
Jan 4, 2009. 12:37 AMPerson33 says:
I agree with linixh4x0r Linux has less viruses made for it.
