ok so get all these.i got them mostly from broken toys,i'm sure you can find them at radioshack.

- a AA battery holder -> holding the batteries
- some solder wire -> soldering
- some wires -> connecting motor to switch,to batteries
- 2 AA batteries -> powering the motor
- 2 1.5V motors (preferably identical) -> making the robot move
- a slide switch -> ON,OFF
- 2 SPDT (Single Pole Double Throw) switches -> used for antenna
- 1-2 paperclips -> glue on the antennae so it is longer
- some glue sticks -> use with the hot glue gun

Please send this pdf in my email . pls email it to saakethsrinath@gmail.com .nice robot
but please mail me an easier way to make any robot as im just a beginner, and some usefull, interesting robots, and how do we make them.

thank you

I am a beginner and I have started to do this. Now I am collecting the stuff can u tell me that are the motors will be operated by a remote or not.
dannystaple in reply to fshahid1Feb 28, 2013. 1:08 PM
Nope - this robot looks like no remote is necessary - the diagram on step 15 explains it - the two tiny switches that the antennae are connected to control the direction of the motors, so the robot is completely automatic. It will roll around the floor until it bumps things and spin around to go somewhere else - pretty much until the batteries die.

in india

hello sir i am persuing b.tech (1 year)(ec)
your robot is marvouleus , but can give me a hint of making a very very simple robot or a circuit design of four wheel dc toy moving in any direction as the direction given by us with the switch.
i am trying to to make your beetle robot.
please give the idea soon.

can we use other normal wheels compatible to this motor
rishabkhincha says: May 29, 2011. 1:48 AM
where do we connect the SPDT switches
Fujin95 says: Feb 10, 2011. 1:10 PM
What toys can you get the SPDT switches from?

hey man

You took the image of step 15 directly from my Make article!

You can credit people work and give the link to my instructables when you copy something.

rthunder in reply to robomaniacOct 30, 2010. 9:16 AM
Is that why there is a diode in the circuit diagram, but no mention of it in the article?
robomaniac in reply to rthunderOct 30, 2010. 10:18 AM
There is no diode in diagram of step 15, those are green arrows to show the direction of the voltage/current in the circuit. I totally agree that can be confusion for beginner.

This is SOOOOO cool! It's just like little robots called "Hexbugs". Now, instead of buying them, I can BUILD them! :D Thanks a LOT, coolrobot! Win Guy

you got this from robomaniac's instructables- beetle robot and beetle robot v2 revisited.
coolrobot (author) in reply to derbertAug 10, 2009. 8:42 AM
why?because i made a beetle bot? i went in USA so my dad's friend who is a HUGE fan of robots and makes some and he told me how to make a simple robot i dont want to take credit for anything but i just wanted to show some people who like robots (like me) how to start their hobby or whatever
paintsniper says: Jul 26, 2009. 8:26 PM
mine is so good ive been doin robotics since i cant remember if i get time i will post a instructable
coolrobot (author) in reply to paintsniperJul 27, 2009. 4:25 AM
i'm really interested in robotics and i have been gathering parts for the past few months and now i have started building some things

remember to rate my inscructible! =D
AndyGadget says: Jul 17, 2009. 7:18 AM
You really need to add a circuit diagram to this or make the wiring picture MUCH clearer. The critical thing about this type of robot is the wiring of the switches to give it its 'behaviour'. A video would be good too. Wheels from some of the small Lego kits work with that type of motor if you drill out the holes very slightly.
