u might have burned your chocolate because of direct heating . to melt the chocolate or to heat it use double boiler technique where u keep a pot of water and boil and then place the chocolate pan on it steam created will heat/ melt ( whatever u require) your chocolate. chocolates are very sensitive to direct heat .hope this helps:)
