How to put Music, Videos, and Pictures on to a Nintendo DS

Step 2 Converting your videos

ok, now that you have your video(s) downloaded in .flv format, you have to download a few more things.

avisynth
batchdpg
.net framework

after downloading all of these, this (batchdpg) is what allows you to convert your videos into .dpg format (video file for the ds). the other things (.net framework and avisynth) just allow everything to work. if you dont have all of these, you wont be able to convert. however, batchdpg will ONLY convert .wmv to .dpg, and because the youtube file is in .flv, you must download ANOTHER converter here. this converter converts flv to any file. really easy to use too.

after downloading all of these, its time to open up your flv converter. click ADD and choose the .flv file you want to convert. then go to the drop down menus and choose WINDOWS MEDIA VIDEO .wmv and the rest of the menus should change automatically. choose the destination to your desktop (just cuz its easy to find the file). you can change the other settings too, like the quality and stuff, but higher quality equals larger file. now click CONVERT.

it shouldnt take long, and after its done you should have a .wmv of your original youtube video. okay... we're almost done.

NOW convert your .wmv file to .dpg. open up batchdpg, and click on OPEN on the INPUT MEDIA FILE. leave the subtitle file. for OUTPUT, choose desktop for both temp and output. (the other stuff should change automatically). now click ADD, and then RUN. now wait for it to finish converting.

um..ok i dont know if it says it anywhere in your instructable but can you still play games and stuff and can it ruin your ds?????

yes you can still play games on the DS, because when you turn on your DS with your R4 in it, there are three pics to choose from: game, media, and slot 2. Game is where you will find your DS games that you got from wherever you did (most often downloaded, tsk tsk :P), media is where the moonshell will run automatically and then you will have access to your music and videos and all your other media. Slot 2 is for when you want to play a GBA game, then you'd click that.

I installed moonshell151_with_dpgtools121 on my R4 card, everything works well, games, mp3 and this video I downloaded .dpg Looney Tunes --- Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Elmer Fudd --- Rabbit Fire (1951) I am trying to play some videos I downloaded from utube and so far nothing seems to work. I used Clip Extractor & saved the videos to avi. I used Super Video Coverter (v20009.build.35),to convert them to .dpg It worked fine. I used dpgshow.exe to watch them and all is great. I copy the files to my SD card and when I load Moonshell the files are not there! What am I doing wrong? Please, help me!

have you installed the latest moonshell and R4DS kernel? try that, otherwise did you download .netFramework? either that or your R4 software is missing a file or something. or maybe you flubbed a step.

The link to convert the Flv to dpg doesnt work it just goes to katz and says" What would you like to search?" And the batchdpg converter link doesnt work either! Please reply and give me the links!

you probably can but i found that this one had the most features and noob-friendly interace.

oh, hey, its noodle93! i would know that emoticon from a mile away XD hm, it doesnt seem to be able to convert AVI file formats... comes up with an error message about opening it up in windows media player... do i require a codec or something?

what doesnt seem to convert AVI files? the flv converter or the batch dpg one? and i dont think AVI files can be played in windows media player... i think it only works with WMV files. but im not totally sure.

Again, incorrect, BatchDPG can convert .avi's as well. I use vixy.net to download the videos and convert them to avi, stick em into BatchDPG then throw them on.

yeah, i it could convert .avi's too, but if you're just downloading from youtube, you might as well just convert them to .wmv THEN to .dpg so you could also watch your downloaded youtube videos on windows media player.

Vixy.net converts it to .avi. Windows Media Phailure can play avi's.
