How to Split Logs

just the way to split logs that I was taught.

Step 1: What You Need

all you will need is an axe, and a stump, or something you can chop wood on. plus the log that you want to split.

Step 2: Starting the Chop

first you put the log, end down, on the stump. then you take the axe and swing at the log (going with the grain)as if to chop it. it should go in a little, depending on how hard you swing. it should look something like this.

Step 3: Finishing the Chop

now you lift the axe up, log and all, and swing hard down so the bottom of the log hits the stump, the axe should go right through and split the log in two. There you go, hope I was helpful, and happy chopping.
