Finished!
Hopefully by now you will had an iPad stand very similar to mine, or you own complete version. Either way I can not wait to see any versions you make. I will send anyone a patch who remakes this instructable, either for their iPad, or any other device.

Here are the final shots, plus a bonus shot of the iMacPad next to my iMac, and my vintage mac mod.

Thanks for reading, feedback is also more than welcome!

How did you do that with your old mac??? Is there a write-up on that?

That looks really cool. I thought about something like this, too. But there's one thing I wondered about: Using the keyboard looks great to me, but how do you start apps and move around a "cursor" in a document? That's why I didn't try yet... Otherwise really great work :-)

Ah ... Bluetooth mouse?

Bluetooth mouse sounds good allthough I doubt that using it without JB the iPad isn't possible?!?

Another way you could use a mouse is with an iPod Touch and a computer if you wanted a trackpad. You need a computer and an iPod and WiFi. Download TouchMouse by logitech and the server on your pc/mac. JB your iPad and install Veenc, then install a VNC viewer (google RealVNC or TightVNC) on your Mac/pc and connect to the iPad. Then when you use the trackpad on the iPod Touch it moves the cursor on the iPad. A little harder but if you want a trackpad thats the way to do it.

If you mean using the iPad by itself (no mac next to it), if you haven't updated to the 3.2.1 firmware yet, you can jailbreak it using Spirit, and there's an app called BTStack that allows you to use a bluetooth mouse (with cursor on the iPad screen) to select apps and text.

Thanks for the info. So far I didn't see a good reason for me to JB my ipad yet. I like tinkering with my toys, but for the ipad I really didn't see the advantages for me. So I guess I just leave it like it is for now.

I don't have an iPad, but there are some pretty cool apps you can get for it. If you have an iPad 3G, MyWi lets you tether the internet from it and turn your iPad into a wireless router. http://gizmodo.com/5543028 lists some cool apps. SBSettings is really useful.

Also, there are emulators (programs that play video games, think GBA, SNES, NES, GBC, etc) for the iPad also. Some even have WiiMote support, allowing you to use a WiiMote for a controller. I use gpsphone (GBA Emu) on my iPhone a lot.

A wireless router works as a wireless router and costs 30€ Kudos for the idea though!

But if you're like me where cable internet doesn't run, then tethering your iPhone/3G iPad is pretty convenient.
