Instructable of how to make a cake that resembles an iPhone

Step 1: Make Cake Batter

For the cake batter you will need to make a basic chocolate sponge cake. 175g butter at room temperature 3 medium eggs 175g caster sugar 175g self raising flour 50g cocoa powder 1/2 tsp vanilla essence Pre heat the oven to 180 degrees c Place all ingredients in a large bowl and musk together using an electric whisk. Grease or line two square baking tins Place mixture in tins Bake the chocolate sponge cake for about 30-35 mins or until a cake skewer inserted in the middle comes out clean. Place on cooling rack until cool.

Step 2: Creating 'apps'

Decide on the apps that you would like to be on your cake Make the apps using many different pre made royal icing colours ( this can be quite expensive but you can make the icing yourself as you only need a small amount of each colour) Cut squares of icing for the background of apps Use cut out shapes and icing pens to decorate apps

Step 3: Ice Cake

Next you will need to make a chocolate buttercream mixture for the royal icing to stick to, for this you will need: 85g butter 175g icing sugar 2 tablespoons cocoa powder 1 tablespoon milk Whisk all ingredients together until smooth Spread icing over chocolate cakes placed next to each other Roll out black royal icing and smooth over buttercream covered cake.

Step 4: Attach Apps to Cake

Attach the apps to the cake using a very small amount of buttercream icing, it is good to use a real iPhone as a template or print out an image of an iPhone to follow Finish detailing with white icing pen Add grey trimming round the edge of the cake finished with edible shimmer spray for added detail You have a finished iPhone cake
