This is an amazing idea, but the only thing I have to ask is: when you drop your phone, the screen and the insides are more fragile than the back because it is built to be strong, I think, so wouldn't that stuff up your phone?

KittyKat04 (author)2015-09-28

Hmmm. It looks AWSOME!!!!! Although I don't really want to drop my first iPhone I might do it to the my second iPhone that's already cracked. Um is there another ink thing that works? And wouldn't clear nail polish do nothing to stop the glass going into your hands?

LiveCrafts (author)2015-08-24

You should get a case. Dropping your iPhone isn't something you should do. It looks cool, don't get me wrong, but it doesn't look slick like the origional iPhone back does. Everyone should have case to some extent. Doesn't need to be an OtterBox, but get a case, even a dollar store one.

Well Done and Another Thing that you could use a smd UV led and place in under glass and Highlighter Ink would Glow!

OHHHH Frostbourne

PaleHorseRider (author)2014-11-18

It looks really well but I have to be really careful with my cell since it cost me $130.

And I can't even get a case in the store that'll fit it! It goes to show if you don't buy an iPhone you can't get a case.

Well met my friend, good job!

copperaxe (author)PaleHorseRider2014-11-19

There are cases for every phone, trick is finding it. regardless of where you shop online always do a model number search. A phone maker may sell a model to a few different carriers and each carrier will name it differently. The model number does not change, so while 'XYZcell' calls it a 'Newave' and 'ABComm' calls it a 'Freesytle 2' its still a sb-450n phone made by 'celltech co'. Pop off the back and look at your label.

Well mine is a touchscreen slide. I just want something to replace or paint the outer casing though!

deluges (author)PaleHorseRider2014-11-20

Or.... Make your own ;)

The way you started off in the beginning made it sound like an advertisement... And I never knew that obtaining creativity like this was possible! Wonderful Instructable with great pictures!

Looks like a nice modern interpretation of Kintsugi (金継ぎ) you have embraced the philosophy of 無心mushin. Do not be upset as when you understand that the glass is already broken, every moment with it is precious.

Who would have thought that an iPhone could be so existential, perhaps that is the real reason Steve, designed them this way...

Not only is there no attempt to hide the damage, but the repair is literally illuminated... a kind of physical expression of the spirit of mushin....Mushin is often literally translated as “no mind,” but carries connotations of fully existing within the moment, of non-attachment, of equanimity amid changing conditions. ...The vicissitudes of existence over time, to which all humans are susceptible, could not be clearer than in the breaks, the knocks, and the shattering to which ceramic ware too is subject. This poignancy or aesthetic of existence has been known in Japan as mono no aware, a compassionate sensitivity, or perhaps identification with, [things] outside oneself.

—Christy Bartlett, Flickwerk The Aesthetics of Mended Japanese Ceramics

Lol I know georgia_rose! I just put that for humor! But there are skins(sticker like things) that you can put on your phone that has that design on it. There are also cases
