ok here it is this it the l96 ive been working on since march. it was a secret project no one besides dsman knew about it but even then he didnt know that i still had it it has gone through monsterous changes it doesnt even look the same. it has great range foot range. the last pic is the origanal

do not comment on the range it gets 112 feet and delete all commnents on that arguement or ill complain to the admin

Step 1: Magazine

this is a removable yellow rod magazine it requires two cut whites

Step 2: Fake Barrel

it isnt that hard

Step 3: Real Barrel

Step 4: Stock

Step 5: Mid Section/trigger

Step 6: The Connection

put it together oh yeah and make the scope

Step 7: Finished

have fun dont shoot anything you care for but please do shoot younger siblings

i am not at fault for any thing you do
Can you post more pictures on the stock?
u know im sure an l96 didn't have a mag, it had a hopper, a 4 round hopper
no, thats the Remington 700
hoppers are old technology, try the late 1800s on the gatling gun unless you mean the bolt action mag type
very nice!! im just wondering, but how is it that the bullet's path is not obstructed by those blue rods sticking horizintally in front of the barrel
because the barrel is higher that the blue rods
ohhh, that makes sense! thanks for clarifying for me! 5 stars!
im off to build!
cool have fun hope it treats you well
this looks cool. 4.5* if it had a piece count i think i would give you 5
Its an good gun 160ft XDXDXDXD :D :D :D: :D:D: D:D: D:D D:D: D: LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
(removed by author or community request) lol just kidding
looks... good. I highly doubt a 112 foot range though with just a basic ram system, and a tan clip loading area. I would estimate around 60 ft at most. Once I had a gun shooting what I thought to be around 50ft, but then I measured it and it was actually 32ft.
People need to make better guesses, when I say a gun goes 45 feet max, it might only go 35 max because I'm not actually measuring but it wouldn't be that far off. As a general rule, I think that the max range for a standard firing rod gun is about 50-60 feet.
hey i have one quesion how did killerk get that range out of his pistol he made a low friction barrel and this does get the measured amount of 112 feet
The pistol - Firing pin is hitting the bullet at the very latest - The bullet had fins on it, making it go 3 times as far - He used a trigger block that was holding the firing pin back as far as possible. Your trigger is 1/3 of the way down the barrel, His was about 1/8. - His barrel was only 3ish connectors All those factors add to the range.
no they dont
Please explain how they don't...
fins on a bullet make only more accurate but maybe 10 feet more in range i measured 112 feet it does fire that far and his firing pin isnt any further back than mine is
You don't get it... One of the main reasons why knex guns don't have any range is because after the bullet leaves the barrel, the faster it's moving the more the air pushes against it and makes it want to spin. If the bullet rotates any more than 1-2 degrees there is a high likely hood that the air will catch and and send it into a spin, and because it is now going sideways, it is slowed dramatically by air resistance. Fins prevent the rod from rotating therfor preventing a spin, thus there is no more huge air resistance causing it to go much farther, and of course it is now going in a straight line making it more accurate. A good example -------TRY SHOOTING A BOW AND ARROW BUT TAKE THE FINS OFF THE ARROW BEFORE SHOOTING, DOESN'T WORK TOO WELL DOES IT?------ Because it now acts the exact same as a knex bullet would.

All this means that the more "power" you give it doesn't allways equate to more range because the bullet will most likely just spin out of control.

And from what the picture shows, your firing pin is a couple connectors farther forward.

I hope you actually read this and don't just ignor it and not respond.
Very true, i was working on a gun that you slip over your hand and it was a sling shot, it was less than a foot long, but with fins on the bullet, i got it to shoot around 60 ft! You guys may not think that's true, but it is. 60 ft. for a less than a foot gun is amazing!
i read it makes sence sorry but i know it got 112 feet end of discusion bother me any more about it and ill delete this instructable thats what happened to my side arm it got critisized way to much so i deleted you dont want to keep the instructable community away from this awesome 112 FOOT IN RANGE gun and i dont want to delete it so lets just put this behind us and not argue AND PLEASE COMMENT BACK
Also to add to Trauts' argument, what is rifling - making a bullet spin, that dramaticall made sniper rifles have a huge amount of range (I'm not sure why but it does).
well how do i put this umm have you ever made a paper airplane that spins well if it didnt spin it wouldnt go AS far so the reason why they make it spin is so they can do more damage and get it to go further
Paper planes to far due to air resistance, shape, upthrust and a few other things I forgot. Main one being AIR RESISTANCE
A sniper rifle needs, I think, more than 10 coils of rifling.
Just like a foot ball. When it spirals it cuts through the air easier.
traut is right all that air will lift it fro the bottom and make it flip with fins you have better areodynamics
That is exactly why my T36 got so much range! Not because of fins, But because i made it shoot a bullet that would use that spin to its advantage
i changed it to it gets a great range happy?
k. And to let you know I have yet to rate this 'ible and probably never will rate it just to let you know that i'm not hating on you.
just make sure it isn't cm! LOL
I had a sniper that had fins, and it went atleast 25feet more, with a ram aswell.
yeah, i measured the dd 27's range and it was 65 ft. O.o
lol:have fun dont shoot anything you care for but please do shoot younger siblings
it works great for that when im baby sitting and they get routy i shoot them
very good rifle!!! haven't got enough pieces to build it though!!!
that sucks im sorry you dont have enough
this thing rocks dude 5 star faved
What is so good about it? you didn't even tell us the range...
read the comments below thats why i changed it it got 112
It did not...
Looks nice, but I doubt that it can go more than 60 feet with that firing system.
I 100% agree
Looks great, I really do like the look of it:) It took me 2 days to make an perfect a sniper i made though>.>, although i didn't make a stock:D
