mini ninja crossbow

I had made a ninja kit and wanted something that could shoot. I looked for awhile on instructables but couldn't find something that matched what I wanted. I decided to just make it myself and it turned out great so I wanted to share my idea. This is a simple, surprisingly powerful crossbow that is only 12 cm. long.

Step 1: Materials

wire,
bamboo skewers,
fireplace matches,
small rubber band,
hot glue,
tape,

-tools
anything you find necessary to put this together, I used:
hot glue gun (obviously),
wire cutters,
needle nosed pliers,
scissors

thanks i is very cool but when I fire my bolts dont fire or they fail completely. i have only shot about 3 bolts out of 53450000000 tries can you pleas explain how i may fix this???? thanks :)

its a bit confusing. the latch is held in place by two loops. one on eich side. the back is a button that lifts the front. the front is just a hook that holds onto the rubber band

do you have to hold the trigger down to keep it from firing

if it is built correctly then no, but in some cases yes. i built a custom spring mechanism for mine so it even resets by itsself but it was too complicated to post. in your case i would advise bending the wire a bit more

i am about to combine your idea with a pengun and ducttape ninja's hidden crossbow. objective: minitaurized pengun that can be hidden in your sleeve for stealth attacks, pissing ppl off, or just leaving the house "armed". i will use the firing mechanism shown here, the base from the hidden crossbow, and modify a pengun i found somewhere else. if im lucky, i will have something like Altair's (assasins creed) hidden blade, except its a gun, and i have to push on my forearm to fire. btw, i made a ninja crossbow XL by using full wood chopsticks. Currently, accuracy is almost nonexistent because imake fail arrows/bolts. it will fire PENCILS! however, pencils fly less than three feet before tumbling. i can probably mod it for more power/accuracy somehow, maybe by getting a better rubber band or adding feathers and weights to my arrows. what do u think?

ive tried building ducttape ninjas crossbow, and it works pretty well. i dont think tht it would need to be combined with anything. with his crossbow u can also shoot without using your other hand. with modded ammo it would be pretty acurate. feathers would get in the way though using his designs. the weights, if added correctly, i think would work well

the crossbow part won't fit into my sleeve, so i plan to use the pengun instead, which is very similar. also, i don't have chothespins or ducttape, which is why i want to use this firing mechanism instead. if i used a bit of string, i could fire with the flick of my wrist, but i need to find a ring that fits.

i just tied it to my finger without the string. it seams like your idea should work

 Is there any way to make this less lethal? I was thinking about giving one to my friend as a b-day gift but then I realized he would shoot me with it anyways. How about I give him darts with no tip on them! I think I'm going to make my own version. Btw, how does the firing mechanism work? I really don't get it...

qtips make them less lethal

 the sharp tip is very important to the arrow's balance in flight. without it it wont fly straight.as long as it isnt fired at the head or at point blank range it doesnt hurt that much.it does hurt a little though. btw, if u do give it to someone be sure to be ready to repair the elastic if it breaks. it lasts about 50-75 shots. it might last longer because i was using old elastics but the roughness of the wood wears it down.

i tested qtips and they fly fine with fletchings

 and the firing works by pressing the metal thing on the back of the crossbow.it lifts up the thing holding the elastic
