Introduction: Minifig Barrette

Picture of Minifig Barrette
There needs to me more wearable LEGO accessories. Show everyone your LEGO love away from your building table with a minifig hair barrette (hair clip). This easy to do project can be made in about 30 minutes (depending on your glue/epoxy) and can be customized to no end.

The LEGO Store near me had a huge bin with all kinds of parts to create your own minifig, or you could use a specialty ready-made minifig from a set, or a LEGO keychain with the pin removed.

LEGO purists beware: Minifigs were harmed in making this idea!

materials:
  • LEGO minifigs
  • barrette or hair clip (3-pack at Dollar Store)
tools:
  • sandpaper
  • epoxy
Steps to make your own minifig barrettes:

  • sand and score hair clip and back of minifig to ensure adhesion
  • epoxy legs to torso and head accessory to head (optional: leave head and arm able to swivel)
  • epoxy is messy, protect your work surface with newspaper
  • use 2-part epoxy to affix back of minifig to scored portion of hair clip
  • I used slow-set epoxy, so I let mine set overnight

Have you made your own LEGO jewellery or accessory? I want to see it!

Me and my 9 year old son were browsing through and saw this, he liked it and decided we should make some for my wife. I had him pick out his least favorite mini-figs and we made these together. I used craft glue with accelerator which hardens in 5 or so seconds, so they were ready to be worn right after. Great simple and fun instructable!

The lion tamer is a least favourite? He looks awesome!
These came great, and with quick-setting glue you're set in no time! (I only had slow-drying epoxy around when I made mine).

They came out perfect, thanks for sharing!

Um, I want to wear those! I love minifigs! I've got the earrings, I'll have to work on some hair clips this weekend! :) Thanks for the fun idea!

Perfectly rainy day...so we made Lego Hairclips! I did it a little different, and glued a flat 2 by 1 piece onto the barrette...thus making it interchangeably awesome! :) We love it!

That's awesome! I like the idea of them being removable.
Thanks for sharing, enjoy the patch and membership!

Yeah that is a great idea with them being removable - great Job!!! So fun since you can change them up any way you like. I think I"ll be making these for my nieces.

Awesome, I wish I had those when I was a little girl.

You made me feature it with just the first picture. Unprofessional? Maybe. But it's an awesome and simple idea!

XD, nice bro.
