This is how I put away my ipod shuffle player. This way I do not have to deal with inextricable knots next time I want to use it. Since I am not good with words here is a video. enjoy.

This may increase the chance of fracturing the inside cables which is bad for your headphone cord.
Disclaimer: DO THIS ON YOUR OWN DISCRETION AND RISK AND THAT YOU WILL BE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE OR INJURY.

Step 1: Holding the Clip

Keep your headphone plugged in.

Hold the Clip opened. This may be the trickiest part.
The trick is to use 3 fingers, thumb index and middle , two finger holding and push down with thumb.

Push the Headphone Heads in side the clip.

Start wrapping the headphone around the outer part of the clip. Don't wrap it too hard it will increase your chance of breaking your headphone.

Step 2: Locking the Wrap

now , when you are almost to the end, push the remaining wire into the clip.
Close the clip down. The wire should be lock in to place by the clip.

enjoy.
good idea...
Very nice! As an added warning, when you start wrapping, allow some loose wire close to the plug, so that the wire is does not bend away from the plug. I have noticed that when wire is bent straight off the plug too many times, eventually it is cut inside the insulation and the headphones are rendered useless. So, if there is some slack around the plug, there shouldn't be a problem.
