paintball air cannon

paintball air cannon
a very high power paintball gun. can b pumped up to 100 psi safely. Be careful though it is very dangerous some how it managed to shoot a paintball through a bike helmet at 30 psi (not sure how that happened)

also i will give the instructions for a barrel that fits a paint grenade and shoots it 100-200 feet fairly accuratly but you have to use a tippman squadbuster take of the mesh then pull the pin out and make straight instead of bent and slide it down the barrel

a shorter barrel makes it more accurate becuase it is overly poweful with a long barrel and i will get video of it

Boys I have built a air cannon that can shoot pop cans, water ballons about 200 feet actuality.

The Cannon
40 in barrel
2 in ball value
20 in long 4in pipe for air chamber.

I use dixie cups to hold the paintballs in the barrel but they spread out over a large area 100 ft out.

I had a fire based gun. they suck go air and go long barrels it looks cool and you can shoot farther with practice and arc.

freeze balls and shoot them at people you become very unpopular.

Apr 10, 2009. 7:42 AMThePyroManiac says:
You were able to hit through a helmet because helmets are designed to absorb shock from something blunt like a curb and spread it over a wide area, instead of withstanding a puncture-like damage.

paintballs dont freeze all the way in a regular freezer. i had a bag of them in a deep freezer for over 3 months. i put them in liqid butane, its easyer to get then nitrogen
Dec 28, 2008. 10:53 PMcomander01 says:
Try putting them in liquid nitrogen :D

if you freeze the paint balls.... when you shoot it it would probably fire more accuratly... i havent tried but i would think more mass might help
Jan 23, 2008. 9:40 AMreceiver545 says:
freezing paintballs make the balls expand and bus in the barrel or hopper
Feb 18, 2008. 7:20 AMpaintballer72 says:
sorry buddy but it does the opposite. freezing paintballs makes them harder and more difficult to pop. because of the semi hard shell on the outside of a paintball it does not swell or expand unless soaked in water. paintballs are also not filled to maximum amount for the reason of playing in various tempatures including freezing
Feb 18, 2008. 2:15 PMreceiver545 says:
the paint want freeze!!
Sep 16, 2008. 8:28 PMturnerfromdh says:
lol thats the point so they are like a brick hitting you
Feb 18, 2008. 6:58 PMpaintballer72 says:
im sorry if i had to be this exact but, the shell itself hardens making them harder to pop. and i know ive been playing paintball for 4+ years
Feb 19, 2008. 2:29 PMreceiver545 says:
yes but it still expands! dude i ow a paintball feild in my town ive worked there 10yrs and played paintball since it was invented! I DEPENDS ON WHAT KIND OF PAINTBALLS YOU USE WINTER SEASON PAINTBALLS FREEZE AND SUMMER BALLS EXPAND!
Feb 19, 2008. 7:02 PMpaintballer72 says:
every kind ive ever bought from cheap paint to expensive feild paint always hardened but never expanded
Feb 20, 2008. 1:20 PMreceiver545 says:
o ok i depends on conditions in the freezer i guess..... i guess in my freezer theres alot of moisture in the air then it freezes with the water expanding and hardening.
Dec 20, 2007. 10:43 AMalmost1993 says:
yeah but freezing compacts the liquid and thus with the freezing it shrinks them, which makes their mass more focused on the smaller size which would proportionally increase its weight
Jul 7, 2007. 12:27 AMJamesRPatrick says:
It might help to freeze them, I think. Paintballs are water based and water is one of those compounds that gets less dense when it solidifies. Maybe this would help the paintballs fit better inside the barrel. Or get stuck.
Feb 12, 2008. 4:12 PMfour_eyes954 says:
but water gets bigger when it freezes
Feb 12, 2008. 7:26 PMJamesRPatrick says:
That's the point. They get bigger and fit better in the barrel. But this topic is way old.
Feb 13, 2008. 4:44 AMfour_eyes954 says:
wouldnt it break the skin then
Feb 13, 2008. 11:32 AMJamesRPatrick says:
I don't think the purpose of the Instructable is to shoot people. It does hurt to get hit with one though. Paintballs themselves can break the skin.
Aug 21, 2008. 3:18 PMlasermaster3531 says:
he means "wouldn't it pop the paint ball membrane?"
Aug 21, 2008. 7:09 PMJamesRPatrick says:
Gotcha. Here's my solution to all of the problems: Why don't all of the skepticals invest one paintball into the experiment. Put it in the freezer. See if it pops. If it doesn't, put it in your marker and shoot it. Compare to a paintball fired at room temperature. If you don't have one paintball to spare, then you don't play enough to be commenting. But this topic is way old.

heheheheh go buy some rubber paintballs that the cops use for crowd control......
Jul 19, 2007. 8:12 PMJamesRPatrick says:
I thought they used pepper balls.h
Aug 21, 2008. 7:10 PMJamesRPatrick says:
Also rubber bullets.
Dec 28, 2008. 10:51 PMcomander01 says:
And bean bags!
Aug 21, 2007. 7:27 AMjoemonkey says:
dog the bounty hunter uses a pepperball gun sometimes!
Jul 19, 2007. 8:54 PMJames (pseudo-geek) says:
no, if they wanted to blind them, they have mass amounts of teargas, mace, etc. I've seen riots get sprayed with GALLONS of pepper spray, trust me, pepper balls wouldnt do any good, you couldnt put enough pepper in one, and its hard to hit someone in the face without putting their eyes out lol.
Jan 22, 2008. 12:24 PMnerfer192 says:
yes police do use pepper paintballs go to www.rap4.com and see for urself
Jan 23, 2008. 9:34 AMreceiver545 says:
there called pepper balls and when the balls bust they vaporize and they act like being near onions except it irritates ppls eyes rly bad!
Jan 23, 2008. 11:05 AMJamesRPatrick says:

So, HAH!
Jul 20, 2007. 12:02 AMJames (pseudo-geek) says:
oh, sorry. but how is that very effecient? maybe for long-range?
Oct 3, 2007. 5:46 PMgotja says:
well maby sometimes they can use it for like big riots and have "sniper paintabl guns/markers" and cops shoot the "leaders" of the riot
Jul 20, 2007. 1:26 AMJames (pseudo-geek) says:
oh. but I do know that rubber paintballs exsist lol. interesting fact: my dad used to be on a pro team, have a $2,000 gun, and play like 3 times a week.
Jul 21, 2007. 2:15 PMJamesRPatrick says:
Do a search for Reballs. They're for paintball practice. They're hollow bouncy rubber paintballs.
