I dont get for what reason the battery is connected?!

the speakers fitted in the boom box requires .5 or more V for its correct functioning. there are 18 speakers connected in series.
                        so 18 speakers require 18x.5(or more) =9 V (or more)DC power supply. so we use a 9V battery.
                        if we do not use a battery , the volume of the speakers will be low, because only 0V current reaches the speakers from the head phone jack of your mobile phone.
