Snares kill so there is little chance of keeping the rabbit for a pet.

Um, I don't think that a bunny caught in a snare would likely live. The bunny might strangle, or die from fright. Also, those looking for pet rabbits should go to their local animal shelter or do a search on rabbit.org for a rescue organization.

birds are easy to snare. get a 3" thick stick about 6 feet long sharpen both ends drill a 1/4 inch hole on one end just before it starts going into the point, then get a 3 foot piece of thread and tie a slip-knot on the end and make a 4inch loop, thread it through the hole, then tie a simple over-hand knot in it about an inch behind the loop, if the knot cant fit threw hole get some thinner thread or maybe heavy fishing line, then find a 3inch long twig thats about an 1/8 of an inch. Pull the thread out enough to so that the knot is just out side the hole on the same side as the noose. stick the twig in just far enough that pressure would cause it to fall. you might need a bigger twig, it needs to be snug. Lay the loop over the stick then attach a rock about the same weight as the targeted species to the other end of the line. When the bird lands on the perch, it falls through releasing the overhand knot so that the rock falls enclosing the noose around the birds feet, but if the rocks to heavy it will rip the birds feet of and allow it to fly away.
