Introduction: Razor Blade Necklace From Soda Can

In this instructable, I will be showing you how to make a really cool razor blade necklace out of a soda can. You can't cut yourself or anyone else for that matter with this, so it is perfectly safe to be wearing around your neck. Please don't blame me if you take it to school and a teacher takes it or a policeman thinks it is a weapon.

Step 1: Supplies

Here is the supplies list. You should be able to find most of these around your house.

-1 soda can. any kind will work, except for the heavier cans with food.
-1 pair of scissors
-1 power drill and drill bits. if you don't have one of these, you can use anything sharp. It will just take longer.
-1 hot glue gun, epoxy, or crazy glue. I prefer the hot glue gun, but really any kind of glue will work.
-1 pair of pliers.
-1 necklace chain or string.

optional
-1 razor (to check if yours looks just right)

Step 2: Getting Your Can Ready

First off you need a good sheet of metal from the can. Start by cutting around the top of the can, then the bottom, and cut the cylinder you are left with through one side. After you finish that you want to smooth out the sides. Just cut around the edges carefully and keep it straight and smooth.

Step 3: Making the Base

Cut off a piece from the bottom about double the height of the razor. Fold it in half (up and down) with the silver part out. Then crimp the fold with the pliers and trim it so it is about the size of a razor.

Step 4: Making the Top

Cut off another piece from the piece of can. It should be a bit shorter than the razor. Fold it in half with the silver side out and crimp with pliers. Trim off any uneven parts. It should now be about 1/3 as tall as the razor.

Step 5: Constructing the Razor

First off take the top (shorter) part you just made and open it up with your fingers a little. Now slip it onto the top of the razor base and crimp it back together again. It will not stay together perfect butt it is ok. Now trim the edges of the top so it is only a tiny bit longer than the base.

-note: make sure that the folded edge of the base is down.

Step 6: Gluing It All Together

Take the top off again and peel it open. Quickly put some hot glue (or whatever type you are using) in the top and quickly put it back on the base. When it dries make sure it is on really tight, and if you are not sure about it then smear a little where the base and top overlap. Make sure not to get glue in the middle, only on sides.(look at the other pics for instructions on this)

Step 7: Cutting the Details

Get your scissors and cut two little triangles in the upper corners of the base.

Step 8: Drilling the Hole

Hold the razor in your pliers and drill a hole right in the middle and right under the top. Pick off any extra bits of metal.

Step 9: Stringing It

This step is kind of self explanatory, but here is what to do. Get your string and put it through the hole. Measure your string and then you've got yourself a razor blade necklace.
