this is a simple science experiment to show hydroxycorbonate

things needed:

clear glass
two, 9 inch copper wires
baking soda
spoon
9 volt battery
electrical tape.

fill the glass with 3/4 of tap water.
add a tsp of baking soda in the water and stir until it dissolves,
strip both ends of both wires
attach one end of each wire to 9 volt battery with electrical tape
put other ends of wires in glass,
 
DO NOT LET ENDS TOUCH, HOT!!!

What you're doing is electrolysis.

Trap the gases coming off each electrode, and compare the volumes - you should find one is twice the other. Can you predict what the gases are?

How would you test them to confirm your predictions?
