Step 3The science behind all this / Safety
Before I let you try and blindly light some mysterious compound, I should probably explain what exactly is happening.
The goal of smoke powder is to ignite the sugar, because when sugar is burned it creates hellza smoke. So the way you can easily burn sugar is by adding an oxidizing agent, i.e. Spectracide Stump Remover. The active ingredient in stump remover is potassium Nitrate (KNO3), so for our purposes, Stump Remover=Potassium Nitrate. One word of warning however, I don't recommend inhaling the gas, because who knows what else is in stump remover that is burning?
Also when this stuff is ignited it burns hot, very very hot.
