this instructable is for making a t-shirt printer from a canon c86

you can also print on wood like  is shown on the video link , is the same concept.

Step 1: Tools

1.- epson c86 Ink jet printer

2.-SHEET OF PLY WOOD 4X4
(or whatever material you choose)

3.-6’’ OR 4’’ WIDE NO SKID TAPE

4.- DRILL AND 13/32’’ DRILL BIT, SCREWDRIVERS.

5.- HOT GLUE GUN

6.- 26’’ DRAWER SLIDER (2)

7.- 5 0R 6 OF 1’’ WASHERS

8.- HAND SAW OR TABLE SAW

Step 2:

Ok so lets begin
First ting is made the shelf
The sides go on the outside of the bottom (use some nails or screws to assemble the pieces,

Step 3: Drawer

The Drawer

the sides mount on top of the bottom,

Step 4: Material Holder

Now were going to make the material holder (this is were all the different material are going to laid so that they can be print on )
looks like a T shape like this :

T

You will need to cut 2 pieces first one is going to be 13x9 inches and the other
is 13 x 3 3/8 inches

Step 5: Drill Step

ok all the parts are finish
the shelf, drawer, and the T shape.
Ok next step is to drill a 13/32 inch hole in to the shell for the printer driver shaft which rolls the drawers (this will be explain later wen we get to the printer ) pick up one side to be the front. Now drill the hole one side of the shell 6 ½ inches to center by 2 3/8 inches from the bottom., Repeat the same on the other side.

remember that these need to be as straight as you can so that the shaft rolls straight.
Please look at the picture with the shaft install :

Now mount the drawer slide on to the right side It 1 ¾ inches from the front and 5/8 inches from the top.

Step 6: Step 6

Now take the slide part out of the drawer slide for easier mount the drawer,(you can also mount the drawer after you mount the shaft in place

Mount 2 inches in from the back of the drawer and ¾ inches from the top
Now apply the No skid tape to the bottom of the drawer centering from side

Step 7: Disarme the Printer

OK NOW THE NEXT STEP IS TO TAKE THE PRINTER APART AND MOUTING IT ON THE DRAWER SYSTEM

Ok here is the victim a epson c86 printer
Before webagain dismantling the printer remember that this will void ALL warranty with the printer!!! So if you cannot afford to lose a printer, don’t try this project.

First thing is to test the printer make sure the printer works like normal install the ink and print a test page.

NOW LET’S START TEARING THIS THINGS APART!! : )

Remove all the plastic tops from the printer (a small flat head screwdriver will be needed)
Start with the bottom tabs, then the back tabs, do both sides
The bottom tabs which actually release the top,

DO NOT REMOVE THE TIMING BELT

Step 8: Naked Printer

while you were taking apart the bottom the pump and gears may have come off, its ok. Just don’t loose any parts,
now release the drive shafts from their position:
take the driver belt off and the screw in between the gears,

now cut out the frame...

this is Wat will look like wit out the plastic covers and all of the cuts

Step 9: STEP 9

NOW you're ready to mount the printer on to the drawer and put the belt on to the shaft
and we need to hack the paper sensor just put some paper wit some hot glue on it or some piece of plastic.
now the printer is ready to print just put the t-shirt holder and  a t-shirt (white or lite colors only ) to make a test : )

Step 10: Finish Machine : )

you can put some  of the plastic cover back to the printer

thank you all for you're attention on my first instructable hope it helps some one.

thank you.

Best ink to use is the same ink for making iron ons. <br>After printing directly to the t-shirt, you need to heat press the shirt in order to set the ink into the t-shirt material. <br>It is possible to print on black t-shirts, but you will need white ink. <br>Yes it is made. <br>Google <br>direct to shirt printing -screenprinting <br>Or <br>Direct to Garment -screenprinting <br>for more information.
<p>Hello, I know you last commented a year ago, but in regards to the dark color printing, do you just purchase white ink? How do you hook it up to the printer? If anyone sees this please respond it would make my day :) Thanks</p>
<p>for printing in dark colour garment, i think you need different printer (usually ones with 5-6 ink) so you change one ink to white. and it needs a software as well to control the ink flow when white ink is in use instead of the original colour. </p>
<p>un cartucho negro que no ocupes c&aacute;rgalo con blanco y ya estando en la impresora dale limpiar cabezal para que agarre el color blanco (si es que encuentras un cartucho vacio del modelo de tu impresora)</p>
<p>men hello, excuse my English is not very good. did you know the printer, but I have a problem I jammed paper throws and not take it out, it was with an HP F4440 Printer...............</p>
my question is if you use common inks to print the shirts or sublimated ink <br> <br>EXELENT INVENT!
<p>normal para algodon y sublimada para poliester</p>
you can use regular ink, the sublimated ink works better.
<p>excelente tutorial lo acabo de hacer con una impresora HP me costo con lo del rodillo pero genial...</p>
