Instead of a battery just use some clip button things or snaps or whatever theyre called, batterys will explode if the chemicals mix wrong

magnets near credit cards!!! BAD idea as they have a magnetic stripe which could be wiped by strong magnets (or close magnets) not just credit cards either, many cards have black/brown stripe down the back so beware! nice 'ible btw

Magnets don't do this, see Mythbusters (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MythBusters_%282003_season%29#Eelskin_Wallet)

I really wish I'd seen this earlier after the battery EXPLODED IN MY FACE!! I checked the warnings and everything - no 'do not pierce/take apart/dismantle' so I thought it'd be safe... DO NOT USE THE BATTERY!!

taking apart a batter= bad
taking apart a comlpletely dead one = cant short it :P
taking apart one know what it has inside (not all of em have  4A's) = kinda ok
using the clips from a "mains supply to 9v" adapter = allot better
having a bundle of almost (aready used some) 100 of those cables (just the cables:P) = win
oh and btw, i just counted, i still have 90 (well 89 now) of those ~25cm (5inch) cables
(sorry for bragging but it solves all the battery trroubles)

Instead of cutting apart a battery, you could also get two small magnets to replace the snaps.

it won't hold as well as snaps will. besides. there's no harm in cutting open a nine volt battery. inside is just a few quad a batteries (AAAA)
