Ok, this is a fairly simple one, BUT ive never seen anyone else do this, so without further adue, here it is: the worlds best valve stem hack !

concept: valve stems are generally, compatible with all air compressors and bicycle pumps, why not use them as a way to get compressed air into projects, like cannons and dart guns?
plus, valve stems are able to operate safely far beyond the regular pressure of a inner tube , and most importantly,THERE CHEAP! and sometimes free!

so lets get started!

Step 1: Materials and Tools

you will need the following,

a valve stem, either type will work, just the screw in is better / safer you can get these for fairly cheap, and oftentimes tire stores will give you one for free

a pipe fitting to mount the valve stem in that fits your project

vice

drill bits, one that has the same diameter as the rubber fitting on the valve stem, and a small one for a pilot hole.

a drill

knife and sharp-e

Step 2: Mark and Drill a Pilot Hole

next we will mark the middle of the pipe fitting and drill a pilot hole.

Step 3: Make the Hole Big

now use the closest matching drill bit you have to the diameter of the rubber gasket on the valve stem, and drill the hole into the fitting

Step 4: Clean Up the Hole

use your knife to trim away unwanted excess plastic

Step 5: Insert Gasket

take the gasket off of the valve stem and check to see if it will seat properly , you may have to use your knife to trim a little off the sides.

Step 6: Insert Valve Stem

insert the valve stem into the gasket and screw on the nut onto the other side, and tighten down till it wont budge. and your done!
so what i get from the intro is this is a universal adapter for any compressed air thing?
basically, i just wanted to make people aware of a proper sound method to get compressed air into their projects, ive cranked these things up to 160 psi and have had no fuss over the years with any of these fittings
Very unique. I can think of multiple uses for this device. Great Job! Thank you for the info.
If you have problems finding them, the original name for them (at least here in the U.S.) is a 'Schrader valve'

i got a wierd idea..
do the same hack for a cup or mug and use it as a straw..!!
brilliant! a straw from the bottom.... awsome for slurpees
tried that?
Just to let anyone know that wants to use one of these and cant find a source for "Valve Stems", you can find many types like these and threaded ones in hardware stores around the "Water Well" and "Sump Pump" supplies.

I did this a couple of years ago with a modified Blow Gun. I found a device for airing up bicycle tires using CO2 cartridges. The results were pretty scary. It was very long range and very accurate. I turned it into a rifle type device. I took it apart because I wasn't sure it was legal. But if a device like that is legal where you live and want to own one for "Target Shooting", It was just a eBay blowgun with a PVC fitting in place of the mouthpiece and the bicycle CO2 device attached to one of these so it could be removed easily for safety and storage.

Good Instructable!
yea a couple of years back, a company (whos name i forget ) actually made kits to do that with standard blow guns
