find an image you want to stencil. in my case i had the idea for a viking stencil so i found a photo of the lead singer of amon amarth.

Before you cut it out, you might want to correct it to "pillaging". Not criticising, just trying to save you some wasted time :)

I suggest, to avoid lots of fiddly grainy detail, applying a gaussian blur to the image before the threshold filter as this blurs out a lot of the fine detail.

.. what Patrik said :) The only definition for "pilliging" I found was on urbandictionary, not a definitive spelling resource. I don't usually correct single spelling errors as it seems a bit petty, but if you're going to take the trouble to cut this out and maybe even spray it on your stuff, I thought it was worth it. All the people with home-done "HAIL SATIN" tattoos and "SKETHBOOK" written in beautiful writing on their sketchbooks would probably agree.

Pilliging: about 1,440 results

Well, at least Google didn't catch it as a misspelling, but it looks like you're being outvoted more than 500-to-1 (plus by all the dictionaries I checked)...
