Walmart bicycle converted to a chopper minibike

Well it started with my buddy asking me to fix his old rupp mini bike.It was to far gone to fix so i got this idea to put it in a bicycle. I had such a good time doing it i made another one for myself. The first one is a 3 1/2 briggs motor and goes 41 miles a hour . The second one i had to build from scratch has a 5 horse briggs and goes 54 miles an hour. I just cant belive the reliability . we goof around at night in the summer and tool around the back roads. please send me comments and tell me what you think .

Well once you get all the parts you need .Really the only hard part of the whole project is making the motor mount , and cutting the frame where you need to ,to be able to weld in the mount. The only other tricky part is mounting the motor in t he center of the frame and aligning the motor sprocket to the back left jack shaft sprocket. Not to mention aligning the right jack shaft sprocket to the back tire sprocket !

It was very exciting to build. Riding it is a blast. It doesnt break ,it just goes haha.
My friend and i feel like rebels in the middle of the night riding around the back roads at all hours of the night !!

I was wondering what sort of welder I'd need for an engine mount.. I tried a mig welder and the engine fell off whilst driving.

Very cool, I just ordered an 80cc engine for mine. Its rated @ 6-8 hp. I'm leaving the pedals (I was a trouble maker of a Kid so I have lots of ines to pay off) because thats the only way I can cruise it around legally. I have a full custom rear fender and a few other Mods. I'll post here when it's complete and I have pics.

That all depends on the state you live in. I'll give you an example in Massachusetts, just to give you an idea of how ridiculous it can be.

In MA, if it's 49cc or less, it doesn't require a plate, but a registration sticker, and no insurance.

UNLESS it's capable of speeds over 30, in which case it becomes a Limited Use Vehicle, requiring plates and insurance.

So ridiculous.

The black one was only the cost of the bike plus a few cables cus i had the rest from the rupp mini bike.The red one from scratch was about 700.00 when i was finished.It adds up fast...

Check out this website www.motoredbikes.com Its all about bicycles with engines, you should soo show this off over there! nobody on there has done anything like this lol. Theres loads of chopper style bikes too and loads of info for any other guys interested in building one.

Cool, if I was to do this I would definitely get an old motor without all the crappy covers or remove them so that the motor would look more authentic. That reminds me I have an old, and I mean old, Techomseh engine in need of a home, right time to go melt some metal.
