while mending a broken webcam i replaced it's plastic screws with bike spokes, longer springs from worn out click/retractable biros, the screw-blocks from electrical terminal blocks, and some glue stick heated with a flame smudged on the sharp ends of the cut spokes. now it can fit the screen or wooden shelves or even wider objects.
very resourceful, where did you get this webcam? do you have a link?
thanks! i just repaired it while visiting a friend, so i can't tell you the brand or model. but i guess other web cam mounts could be modified similarly.
