wooden buster sword mark 2

it's here. it's wooden. it's not painted yet. AND IT'S F**KING HUGE! Ladies and gentlemen, i give you THE BUSTER SWORD MARK 2!!!

well, It would seem silly for me to make an instructable on it, seeing as I have already made it, but I can outline what you have to do right here.

for the wood, I used pine, because it is cheap and light yet quite strong.

the tools I used were: a jigsaw for cutting out the main blade and handle, a hand saw for smaller details, and a hole saw for the holes.

the "guard" is an offcut from the handle, I simply drilled and filed out the center so it would slip over the handle.

the handle itself needs special attention to make it stronger. having the handle go straight up and do a right angle to the bottom of the blade would create a weak spot and make it more likely to snap off. instead, the handle should curve out at the top and turn into the blade:

you can't see the curvature on mine because the guard covers it up ; )

any more questions just ask, but be mindful of the fact that this is essentially just a plank of wood with shapes cut out, and is actually quite easy.

oh, and I used a plane for the sharp edges.

but you would have to make it sharp, so when you hit them, all their blood will spill out HAHAHA.... i mean if its sharper it will hurt more... and stuff

the handle. well. on the buster sword mark 1 the handle broke off twice, so for mark 2 I had to make some adjustments. firstly, the handle has to be at least an inch wide. also, where it joins the blade, right angles are a no-no. a right angle provides a weak point, and a place for it to snap. what you have to do is cut a rounded bit instead of a right angle, and make the rounded bit quite large. you cant see it, but on this one the hand guard thingy covers the bit where it is rounded.

For the one I'm making, I used a round handle (For comfort) and then used a drill to make a hole in the bottom of my blade about 2 inches deep. I slid my handle in, then put screws in to secure it.. Seems like it'll hold.

Hey why dont you take the mark 1 buster sword, cut off part of the top of the blade and then nail it down somewhere like in your room or your lawn and make it look all rusty so it looks like in advent children that would be pretty cool and a good way to use that old buster sword since you have this one now :)

Oh. See thats the sword Cloud uses in advent children the movie set 2 years later. In AC cloud uses 6 swords that all combine to make one big sword that looks like the buster sword
