Are you referring to an original SNES controller or one of the USB ones?

Yes of course! You would do it the same way as an Xbox 360 controller or a PS3 controller. The one difference is that you won't have as many buttons. Because of this, you'll have to hold down a button if you want to skip in the mapping phase. Do you understand?
